BIOS 1.04 (A599 DARK) / BIOS 1.04 (A597 FTW)

  • Adds PBO Curve Optimizer control (PBO2)

BIOS Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         121-VR-A577-KR - EVGA X570 FTW
         121-VR-A579-KR - EVGA X570 DARK
  • Extract the contents of the .zip file to a USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32).
  • Next, reboot the machine and go into your motherboard BIOS and load defaults.  Save, reboot, and re-enter the BIOS.
  • Click on the "Extras" button on the upper-left of the BIOS, and select "BIOS Update" from the drop-down menu.
  • Navigate to where you placed the BIOS file and select the correct .bin file.
  • The BIOS will ask you to confirm that you've selected the correct file.
  • Press "Yes" to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.

Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update.  Thanks!

    did this bios version fix the Disable DF C-states function not being configurable? Is there any plans to implement motherboard RGB control through bios in the future? it would be a welcome QoL feature.

    where is the curve optimizer accessed from? I don't see it

    Thank you for fixing the "Disable DF C-states"!!!!!

    Are there any plans for implementing RGB control on a bios level? I hate having extra software just to control RGB, and since the FTW and DARK boards are geared towards XOC/Enthusiasts it makes sense to offer it at a bios level.

    Question, what AGESA version is 1.04 for the FTW?

    Newb question. I haven't built anything in the last 7 years, and this will be my first AMD rig. Do the X570 Dark boards ship with a bios that supports the 5950X? Or will I need a previous gen AMD processor to boot and load an updated bios?
    Thanks!

    Wow I had no idea that was even possible. Thanks for the quick reply.  I'm hoping someone can confirm the 5950X is compatible right out of the box though.

    Any updates coming for OC Robot? X299 provided the ability to adjust temp limits to allow for higher OCs

    New Ryzen CPU's dont have the same kind of overclocking headroom as the CPU supported by x299 platform. And that ability is prob CPU dependant...
    Still though, there is the ability to raise tjmax for the CPU directly in the bios

    Boot what exactly? I know you can update bios without CPU... But booting an is seems unlikely; bios maybe, but not quite sure what one would do

    The board was released after the CPU... It literally says Ryzen 5000 ready on the product page

    Super curious about this as well... I'm sure they will eventually

    Now with the news that AMD wants to lockdown oc on that CPU, I'm questioning whether I want a 5800x 3d... And seeing as these are overclocking focused motherboards, I'm sure EVGA isn't going to be rushing to support a locked down CPU... But we will have to see once the CPU is actually released... Hopefully AMD doesn't completely handicap the thing

    I honestly dismissed my desire to purchase that CPU right away when i heard they are locking it, wouldn't make much sense for this nice DARK board. I wrote that before those news came out^^
    Now my eyes are on the alternative i had in mind and this is going to be likely my target aswell, the 5900X ofcourse.

    The curve optimizer clearly is not working properly on the x570 Dark with BIOS version 1.04 installed. There is no change in performance or any discernible shift in the V/F curve in response to changes in CO steps.

    Which CPU are you using and which PBO settings are you using in the BIOS?

    I am using a 5950x. My current PBO settings are as follows:

    Precision Boost Overdrive = Advanced
    PPT = 1000
    TDC = 1000
    EDC = 140
    Precision Boost Overdrive Scalar = Manual, 2X
    Curve Optimizer = Disabled [Note: I disabled the feature because, after testing whether my per core curve optimizer settings were stable, I determined that entering CO steps was not having any effect on performance, which was measured by running Cinebench R23 and CPU-Z via Benchmate.]
    Max CPU Boost Clock Override = 0MHz
    Platform Thermal Throttle Limit = Auto

    Thanks.  I guess I didn't respond earlier, but I sent those over to our BIOS team.

    We have a new BIOS which has some improvements for the PB02.  Please let us know if this is an improvement for you.

    Something changed on the voltages ...

    BIOS 1.01 from the factory runs my 5950x with VSoC on 1.125V, VDDP CCD on 1.000mV, IOD on 1.05V and VDDG on 1.000mV on FCLK 1900
    On a newer BIOS minimum VSoC 1.15V, CCD 1.050V, IOD 1.075V and VDDG 1.050mV

    If I use lower voltages I get OCCT CPU or memory instability ..
