128 bit buss makes this about as good or worse then a 1660 super other then the DLSS cause of tensor cores but would it be enough

According the GPUCheck the 3050 sits between the 1070 and 1660 Ti.

I reallyw ouldn't trust any data on GPUCheck.  They are almost as bad as UserBenchmark.

I do hope that pricing of 3050 would be fair for the majority of gamers. It doesn't really need to be expensive.

Starting at $249.

LOL!

I think both of us know that the starting price of most GPUs these days are nowhere to be found other than on paper and maybe launch videos.

AIBs would charge way above that starting price and EVGA would be the lowest price among them.

I would be careful about trusting that.  The only 3050 variants released thus far are mobile ones.  I can see a listing in their drop down for the 3050 Ti as well at $250 ... where did that info come from?  Only desktop 3050 has been announced.

So when is this card going live on the website?

I'm pretty sure some time on or after January 27th, 2022 (so sometime this month), since that's when the Founders Edition RTX-3050 releases straight from Nvidia, (which will be gone within nanoseconds.) I'm sure for legal reasons all AIBs can't release before the 27th so you should expect it around then, but really no way to know until they announce it themselves.

I thought there is no such thing as a founders 3050. Just AIBs this time, same with the 3060.

That said, I thought elite access to the queue was a day before or something like that, or does the GPU release on the 28th and elite gets access on 27th?

The 24 hour elite exclusive access, when used, always starts on NVIDIA's set release date and time.  It will never be earlier as NVIDIA will not allow AIBs to do that.

The MSRP is $249, but that's realistically only for FE (Founders Edition) GPUs which are the cards released directly from Nvidia. Also mind you, the MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) is only just that, a suggested price. They can (and I can almost guarantee they will) put up the price as high as they want, whether people will actually purchase them at that price is a different question in and of itself.

The GTX-1050 TI is extremely underrated, and no one can tell me otherwise.

Since you didn't read between the lines, I meant to say I'd call it fraud if I don't see an FE at $250. No need to tell me what an MSRP is, I'm not one of those kids. I know what happened historically, what's been happening since late 2020 in GPU market, how nvidia is behaving lately and how the market is responding. Everyone who's been paying attention knows it's not good.

Tbf you didn't elaborate but doesn't really matter. Let's just all pray to the GPU gods that some of us get GPUs on launch day.

XC has a backplate.
XC black does not have a back plate.

that's it.

Re: Introducing the EVGA GeForce RTX™ 3050 2022/01/17 20:44:04 (permalink)
Okay so this is the first time I'm buying a vid card on release date (well ... also my first time buying one). Normally I would just buy from a local computer shop but I don't think that's possible anymore without paying an arm and a leg for it. So I hope you guys can answer some questions for me.

1) I read in this forum thread that there won't be an FE. Does this mean I won't be able to buy this directly from Nvidia's website? As much as I would love to get it at EVGA, I don't think there would be any left after the EVGA elite members have their 24 hour head start.

2) I read somewhere that Nvidia usually drops their cards at 9am ET. Do other retailers drop it at the same time or do they each have their own different release time?

3) Since Jan 27 is the release date, will reviewers and benchmarkers be able to drop their videos before 9am on that day or does Nvidia usually lift their NDAs at the same time they release their cards?

4) Since I'm pretty excited for this, and I'm sure a lot of you love doing pc builds in your head, what builds would you recommend pairing with the RTX 3050 if I'm going for an affordable build with 1080p to 1440p gaming in mind? I kind of have my mind set to getting a Ryzen 5 CPU (or a CPU at the similar level), but other than that I'm open to suggestions. I do light video and image editing once in a while as well if that helps. Keep the price as low as you can without sacrificing performance too much.

5) I also love watching vids online. It's why I'm hesitant to get the AMD 6500 XT cause I saw some footage online of why having no H.265 and AV1 encoding will be bad for the quality of some YT vids. I admit I don't have a clear picture on this, even after reading some articles online. Are the lack of those features on the AMD 6500 XT really that impactful on video quality? (4GB vram is also another reason why I'm not aiming for it in any case)

Thanks for anyone who answers ^_^

Pay attention to this:
“[…] limiting the 4GB model to even PCIe 4.0 x4 heavily reduced performance, suggesting that out of the box the 6500 XT could be in many instances limited primarily by the PCIe connection, which is pretty shocking,” concluded TechSpot. “It also strongly suggests that installing the 6500 XT into a system that only supports PCI Express 3.0 could in many instances be devastating to performance.

I'll be honest with you ... I have no idea what that means. I know not all motherboards have PCIe 4.0, but how does a motherboard that has a PCIe 4.0 port still reduce the performance of the card? Sorry, I really am a noob at this.

I would avail the purchase of this video card if it did not have the PCIE of the 4 generation bus.
Go to channel "Hardware Unboxed" ==> video "Will PCIe x4 Cripple the Radeon 6500 XT? PCIe Bandwidth Test".

1) NVidia sells through Best Buy. NVidia couldn’t stop bots at the 3080 and 3090 launch, so they just stopped trying and put that responsibility on Best Buy.

2) everyone releases at the exact same time, so be ready for that.

3) NVidia has been really weird about the reviewer ndas. NVidia was allowing the FE reviews 3 days prior to any other brand reviews, but they were also releasing FE cards before the AIB cards, so hopefully the nda lifts well before launch, but probably at the same time.

I at least got a 1650 Super so will skip the first two steps, but yes despite even being an Elite member now, probably will end up crying by the end of its launch

me want 3050 too lol, or any upgrade from 1650 Super that's remotely possible in this market

I assume Best Buy Canada will also release at the same time? Just checking as it's another option I might have. Thank you so much for your replies.

I don't know how they do it in Canada but here in US, they only launch an item at selected BB stores. Then maybe even for AIB cards on the same product line. At least for the 3080 Ti, I saw a Gigabyte model that's only available at the same BB store where the FE was originally launched.

1050 to a 3050 should be a decent jump... another machine i have is a 1070... best i can tell the 3050 should at least be at that level... that being said wonder if i will be able to find out before the years out... la la la doing the queue stuff queue stuff is my favorite stuff.

This looks like a nice upgrade from my 1060.
