Hello!

I just got my 3080 Hybrid in time for the new years, excellent card, very happy, except it seems to make a lot of noise by the pump on idle. Kind of sounds like a mini fridge.

I’ve read multiple posts threads on all the EVGA hybrid cards and I can’t gather whether to RMA the card because it’s defective or just accept that’s how it is going to be. So much back and forth. I use my PC for more than just gaming so if I’m working on spreadsheets that noise is going to drive me up a wall. My CPU AIO doesn’t make that much noise.

Is this normal?  I’ve tried taking the whole thing out, shaking it to burp for air bubbles (keeping radiator above the pump at all times) etc.

Below is the video, you need to add https:// to watch:

Thanks! Happy New Year!

On idle? My pump made a similar noise but when I hit it with load it all but went away, and not because it was being drowned out by fans increasing in speed.

Correct! On idle, and it is drowned out by the fans/game noise in my case.  I know these pumps run at 100% all the time.

So, I adjusted my CPU AIO fan curves to kinda drown out the sound at idle, does anyone else that has the hybrid cards have this much noise at idle?

I have the Kingpin. I was about to invest in a discrete water-cooled loop but then I tried the magnet trick.  It worked.  Saved my ears and about $900.

I used these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071CTSNLT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I popped one out of the clip, put the provided stickers on both sides, and found the sweet spot on the card.  Lost maybe 3c but it’s quiet now. Temps hover around 53c under stress.

I also rma'd my cooler 2 times and the third one also had horrible noise after 3 months. Did the magnet trick and same here, you lose a few degrees but it's whisper quiet again.

Cant see how the radiator is mounted in your video - Horizontal or verticle - Are the hoses at the bottom ?

everyone's interpretation of different sounds is just that ... hybrids are Not totally silent

your video Open Case & inches from the pump ..... Not exactly what I would call an excessively noise pump ... yes I hear that sound

Have you tried raising & shaking the radiator, while system was running ?  Shutdown, unplug radiator fans, unmounted radiator, hold with hoses at lowest point & above GPU - then restart PC .... the Hybrid pump will run even before you enter Windows

The harmonics of the assembled PC & placement of the PC have a large impact on "sound quality" "acoustic footprint"

Placing the PC directly at ear level on or near your desk is just not a good choice if near silent is the goal

For those that are unaware Asetek makes the AIO units used/ sold by EVGA & many other brands

I do know that cavitation can be the single biggest reason for a noisy pump

How you handle & mount the AIO system can make an impact.

We know all this crap. This aio pumps are just sh**t. It sounds like a really crap old mini fridge, lowder that my actual chest freezer. I have had many other aios, including 'incorrectly' installed ones, and the hybrid kits from evga have given me issues with noise regardless of placement.

Best thing to do would be to do a cross ship rma, and then just swap the coolers with the card evga sends you.

Just to note that I did this 2 times. All of the coolers eventually developed the same noise (first two after 2 months, the third around 4 months). I got tired of rma'ing and losing money on the shipment, and did the magnet mod, and that solved the issue with minimal loss of performance. Not ideal but these coolers just aren't good. Evga knows it and that is why the warranty is only for 1 year vs 5 years on the CLC coolers.
