Sorry for this rant, been changing stuff in my pc all week trying to find the source of this hiss for the fifth time and I'm just frustrated. I really wanted this to work out for EVGA but I'm just tired of the annoyances. I have both the regular and pro versions. Tried with several different mobo/cpu/monitor setups and still get hiss when GPU is under load with both cards. Even got EVGA to replace my regular card but I actually think my original card had less hiss than the one they sent me. I've tried buzz cleaners but no luck. It's coming through the card and 3 different motherboards and 3 different gpu's didn't affect the sound (all 3 intel/ 1080 ti, 3080 ftw3 ultra, 3090 kingpin). Tried 2 different seasonic titanium PSU's and cables. Some setups will have less or more hiss than others, but it is always there. I will give EVGA credit with the quality of audio that comes through the headphone port. It is top notch and if I'm going to keep using the regular version in my sim racing pc since I only use headphones. Maybe someone at EVGA can say why it's better. It sounds as good to my ears as my Schiit stack. Just sucks hearing hiss through monitors while wearing open headphones playing games and you have speakers muted in the nu audio software.
The other major annoyance is the cards preventing startup. It will eventually load in to windows but the Nu Audio app will not load when this happens. Just reset and try again. I've posted about this before and had replies from other people with the same problem. No fixes yet.
I think EVGA would be better off developing a USB dac/amp than trying to develop a pci sound card. Pretty sure the hiss noises are related to electrical interference related to GPU draw but I'm not educated enough to know exactly. I will say the hiss is worse with my 3090 kingpin than my 3080 or 1080 ti. Probably spent 100 hours changing stuff in my pc trying to find the source but no luck. I hope I'm just an anomaly and everyone else is happy with their cards and they sound the way they are supposed to. end rant

Honestly, my ears can no longer tell the difference between on board and high end audio card anymore...so I never bothered with it..
When I could hear the difference, I was all over the PCI (or PCIe) audio cards tho....

    they sounded so much better.

nu audio pro + EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra + corsair rm1000x Working well.
Maybe you should try a different brand of PSU.
Also check whether the indoor power supply GND grounding works normally.

I've tried almost a dozen different top of the line PCI PCIe sound cards over the years. Every single one of them, without exception, is noisier than my USB Centurion 7.1 headset.

I was wondering the same. I've got no hiss before or after rolling my OP-Amps on my pro.

External sound cards exist because this problem exists, and some times there is really nothing you can do to predict it other than buying stuff, finding out you suffer the problem, and buying other things to try to solve the problem. Not a great solution for everyone. Blaming the user for not being omnipotent isn't a great move. Even more, insulting them about their purchase choices without evidence...
Maybe EVGA will some day produce an external sound card to reduce the frequency of these complaints.
Neither of EVGA's NU Audio cards have been fully shielded. If nothing else, I guess that is a place EVGA could start.

The gpu riser was where I started and was originally the main cause of the frustration while changing parts. Tried plugging pc in to 2 different wall outlets that are on separate breakers. Tried using several surge protectors. Yamaha monitors are very clean while plugged in to any other audio sources. They are also plugged in to a different source than the pc. No hiss comes through the speaker output until a game loads. Changed all my psu cables multiple times. Like I said, no hiss comes through the headphone port on either card. Hooked in some old klipsch 2.1 speakers and they had the hiss just like monitors. I'm already back using my USB dac so will try some EMI shielding with the card on an amd build for which I'm waiting on parts.

So you are using a riser? Would you be able to try without the riser in use? Or did you remove it already?

I was using one but removed it first thing. Good thing I still have soft water lines or it would have been an even bigger pita.

How much space do you have between your GPU and the Nu audio card? Curious about EMI issues myself before buying since all of my gear is external currently. Just looking for an internal thing that will work well but I also run a ~403 watt GPU (custom bios etc) that audibly whines on it's own so only the gods would know what that thing emitting nearby. ~20 years ago anything internal was pretty limited due to EMI issues, wondering if the cover and/or any additional grounding solutions could be employed here to aid in the issue. Getting sick of having the headphone amp clutter on my desk anyway. This would keep headphones onboard and simplify the setup for me but I'm quite sensitive to things like this.

Caring about audio, sound and music...is cringe now?

"Rolling" is cringe. It has nothing to do with caring about audio, sound, or music. Why don't they call it what it is: "testing" or "trial-and-error" or "popping out and popping in"? It's just cringe. It's that cult koolaid speak.

You could quote my other reply and talk about the other reply I posted, if you want to further this discussion.
