BACKSTORY: My PC has been running games terribly past month or so, but became very apparent when I tried to play Forza Horizon 5 then Halo Infinite tonight. I understand both these games are buggy so I went back and played Borderlands 3.
ISSUE: My GPU usage recently typically runs around 30-50% in game causing terrible frame time and fps.
WHAT IVE TRIED: I’ve tried updating my gpu and chipset drivers, I had my games on and SSD and transferred them to a different SSD, I’ve tried closing out of everything while in game. All of my thermals look good, staying below 50c underload.
NEWEST UPDATE:I took a look at my pc to see if I could see anything wrong with the hardware, I found what looks like an aio leak on my gpu. Could this be an issue?
NOTE: I just realized I’ve heard some AIO gurgling lately, and what I think is the pump louder than normal, but that might be imagining that because of the potential leak.

Someone in a different thread suggested my PSU could be going out. (RM750x) and that’s the one suggestion I haven’t tried yet.

I locked your other thread since there is no point in having two open for the same issue. That isn’t an aio leak. That is thermal pad weeping which is a non issue, and isn’t the cause of your problem. A weak cpu may be to blame.

Thank you for locking the other thread! As for my cpu I have a 2700x, would that cause it?

Yes, the cpu could be the cause if the dropouts are caused by the cpu bottlenecking. Your gpu usage would just dropout of nowhere in more stressful areas of certain games if that was the cause. Other things which could cause dropouts in gpu usage would be that your cpu is throttling due to overheating.

I don’t think my cpu is overheating as it typically stays around 50c. I ran HWinfo64 for about 20 minutes in game and this is what came back with, sorry for the port quality. I don’t know what most these numbers mean, but I’m sure you’ll know exactly what’s going on.

Edit: looking at the images, I see that there are not cpu clocks. I can get better images this afternoon if these are in fact not useful.

No need to have someone test the psu. You can do that yourself by running the power supply test in occt.

Thanks for the update. Did you ever optimize your games with geforce experience? If no, good don’t. If yes, that could be the issue.

Being set at 3000 mhz shouldn’t be the issue.

I could see 2133 causing lower performance, but not dropouts. Hope that really was the issue. Guess you’ll find out soon enough. 👍

UPDATE: looks like it was a bios issue... Such a bummer, I would've never thought to check there since I haven't touched the bios since last December. Oh well...

sooooo it didnt fix it. I didnt do enough testing.
I have done additional testing and have now found the issue to what I believe to be a power issue. It afterburner is showing my average gpu usage is 150w and cpu is 50w. That is roughly half the power draw my cpu and gpu are 'supposed' to pull. The gpu never goes above 175w and cpu never goes above 65w. I since have purchased a corsair rm850x and the issue still persists.
 
Could my motherboard be the issue? I am truly at my wits end. could software be limiting power draw?

Edit: I did more testing and it seems like i get the best/most consistent power usage when i change my pc's power plan to power saver.

Sorry to hear your issue isn't resolved. How much power does your gpu pull when running time spy extreme graphics test #2? How much power does your cpu pull when running asus realbench stress test for 15 minutes?

Update: I did a windows reinstall yesterday and the issue seems to be resolved. Nearly no hiccups. Played forza horzon 5 on 1440p high graphics getting around 150fps. (was 50 fps) It is also very stable, opposed to it being veru unstable before.
 
The power consumption is still sub 190w for my gpu and sub 70w for cpu. I haven't tried any proper benchmarks, ill try those tonight!

I ran that test for a few minutes and boy I have never seen my CPU get that hot before 88C. Smokin. Thankfully it didn't reset or cutoff. It does not lie when it says it draws the maximum amount of power (500+ in my case between the two) from the cpu and gpu.
