Videocardz - LEAK: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti gets Micron GDDR6X memory

“The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is to feature 21 Gbps memory from Micron. The Taiwanese media outlet ‘Uniko’s Hardware’, which often shares information on unreleased products has now provided the exact code from Micron’s GDDR6X memory catalog. According to this information, a memory codenamed ‘MT61K512M32KPA-21U’ is to be used for RTX 3090 Ti. The code appears to confirm it will be a 21 Gbps bandwidth per module.

Apart from the speed, the card is also the first product to utilize 16Gb (2GB) modules based on GDDR6X technology. NVIDIA has thus far been unable to provide this 2GB GDDR6X memory variant to any of its products because such modules simply did not exist. This led the company to use GDDR6 memory on its workstation products that require high-capacity frame buffers and as many as 24 modules on its current flagship, the RTX 3090 non-Ti.

With the upcoming Ti model, NVIDIA will be able to limit the number of modules to 12, this should simplify the design of the card by not requiring an actively cooled backplate (the RTX 3090 has half of the modules located on the backside). However, the requirement of active back cooling may still prevail because the card will be a true power hog. According to the rumors, the RTX 3090 Ti is to have a default TDP of 450W, over 100W more than the non-Ti model.

NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti is the first GeForce card to feature full GA102 GPU with 10752 CUDA cores. Thanks to the faster memory and 384-bit wide memory bus, the card will be able to cross 1 TB/s of bandwidth for the time in GeForce history.

The card is now expected to launch in January, following the launch of RTX 3080 12GB and RTX 3070 Ti 16GB.”

My thoughts:  If the leak is correct, then NVIDIA is going to have a 3090 Ti complete with more expensive VRAM and a higher TDP.  Be prepared for sticker shock and low availability.

This could be the first MSRP card to reach $3,000.  Add in the scalper impact and fools will be paying $10,000 for these.  Remember when you could build an entire system for a fraction of that price?  We really now are walking to school up hill both ways with 5 feet of snow in June.

I agree this will be a sticker shock for a product you won't be able to buy.

The Titan V was $2999 MSRP, and a few people bought it for their gaming rigs.

There is no way a 3090ti will hit $3k. $2200 maybe, and then scalpers may attempt to sell them on eBay for $3+, but that won’t be MSRP.

If they launch in January and the release is shortly thereafter, be prepared for this site to get hammered.  With the demand versus availability, you know everyone who can will queue for this regardless of the price.

@Grey_Beard:  Not to date myself, but I remember you could purchase a very well equipped car in the early 70s for $4000.  Couldn't afford it at the time, so it was a $250 beater for me.

I could see it being $2k for a founders edition and $3k for a kpe.

This is an easy $2k MSRP card. No way in hell this will be a $3K MSRP, that's double the starting MSRP of vanilla RTX 3090. Not even Nvidia would have the balls to double MSRP while only providing 256 more CUDA cores and 2 RT cores over the base 3090.

well talk about waste of power...  its a behemoth gpu to last until 2030 for sure!!

i can already see the astronomical  pricing.. 2500/3000 euros and above... since the current "vanilla" rtx 3090 can go from 2500 to 3000 euros easily in KASEKING europe

i truly believe this gpu's more directed for heavy 3D editing / processing  then gaming...
