Hi,
I need a 3rd PCIE cable to power my 3080 Ti FTW3 with a 850 GM SFX in a new build. Can I use PCIE cables from my old 850 G2? And I can plug this 3rd PCIE cable into the 2nd CPU port on the 850 GM SFX correct?

Yes, you could use the cables from the g2 I believe based on this article...

    https://www.evga.com/support/faq/FAQdetails.aspx?faqid=59698

Using the pci-e cable in the cpu port on the psu should not be done. pci-e cables are suppose to be plugged into the vga ports on the psu.

Looks like you'll need to power the 3rd input on the gpu using one cable even though it's not optimal.

I can confirm it works just fine, I just finished a build in the Lian LI 0-11 Mini! I have a 12900k and 3080 TI FTW 3 with EVGA GM 850, No crashing no blue screening or anything works perfect!

One thing you should know is that the PSU will coil wine, people have complained on reddit the EVGA SFX power supply's have a coil wine issue underload, coil wine wont hurt your components but can be annoying depending on how sensitive you are too it.

Also the cables are super short, they wouldn't reach to the front of the Mini, I had to buy Cable Mod cables! You will be fine, Enjoy your build!

Please note that we also have a CPU EPS 8pin to PCIe 8pin (6+2) cable available now that you can use on a spare CPU port:

Sadly my motherboard has two cpu 8pins, this wont work for me. 12900k is a power hog

Generally, a second 8pin is only needed if you are doing extreme overclocking involving sub-zero cooling.  A single 8pin is fine for even normal overclocking, no matter how powerful the CPU is on a standard desktop motherboard (SR-3 and WS boards are a huge exception).  The only concern using a single 8pin is if you're using a really cheap PSU with a very low gauge wiring on the 8pin and 24pin connectors, as that may cause the cables/connectors to get really warm.

Sorry to jack your thread. This is a msg for EVGATech_leeM, I just ordered a CPU2 to PCIe cable, in the mean time, can I safely run the SFX 850GM to a 3090Ti and 12900K on two PCIe with one bridge? The build is in progress and I plan to undervolt the CPU and if needed the GPU. I believe the 850 should be fine. Can you confirm?

Yes, I would expect that to work without issue.  Undervolting on the CPU or GPU wouldn't be necessary to make it work either.

The link to that CPU to PCIe cable is down. I cant find that particular cable for sale anywhere. Could you confirm if its still available and perhaps post a new link? @EVGATech_LeeM - and also, just to confirm, is the pin layout the same for the PCIE to PCIE cable? I plan to sleeve and make my own short cables for my build and could just copy the PCIE pin layout if its the essentially the same cable. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it does not appear that we have any stock left of the cable.  I don't have any information if we will have more cables in the future, either.

Pin layout for CPU and PCIe is mostly reversed (but still not matching), so it would not be a good idea to follow PCIe pinout.

@EVGATech_LeeM do you know where I could find a diagram to copy the pin out of the CPU to PCIE 8-pin that was linked above? Perhaps documentation, I have not had any luck finding a wire diagram that would match that particular cable.

The problem with creating a cable like this is that the typical 8pin EPS has four +12V pins and 4 grounds, whereas the typical 8pin PCIe has three +12V and five grounds, so knowing the pinout alone probably wouldn't be sufficient.
