Intoxicus, please go troll somewhere else. If you have no interest in learning how PWM works, stop providing your opinion.

You should repaste your core and stop bug reporting a hardware issue to a game developer. It's no wonder they are ignoring you.

I already explained what the ramping sound is. Why don't you read?

Intoxicus
Put your money where your mouth is.
Do it and prove it.

But you won't.
Because anyone in their right minds isn't going to let that fan ramping continue.

Yeah, no problem. Send me your video card. All it takes is a short piece of jumper wire to reproduce the noise. Like I said, the default "100%" is not 100%. When the card enters a hardware protection event, the fan spins up to actual 100%. You should repaste your GPU core. It sounds like you have a hot spot. Repasting the GPU core has solved the exact same symptoms for many people here on the forum.

You think I will sacrifice my values and buy one of these cards (which I think are flawed) just to prove a point? No way.

Never mind him...waste of time ......its an Electrical Engineering fault with the FTW3 line..period....Im quite confident my experience proved that.... to me anyhow ;)
Its not my AX 1600i psu....nor my EK Block....nor my Display unit or my cables.....or my fans ramping up (cause w a block there are no bloody fans....nor is it temperatures as under water I see maximum 46c under full load....nor is it my Mobo ...my Maximus XI-Extreme is awesome and rock solid......eliminate all these things and it comes down to faulty GPU board, end of story.....

What I dont know is why some Cards last 2 weeks....some 3 months.....some 9 months ....some going strong for a year.....this is what I throw back at Evga Engineers to explain....but in all honesty even those smart minds perhaps have no idea .....

Been building high end gaming pc's for many many years.....first air cooled and then as of 2013 water cooled...multi GPU systems...SLi ...Tri SLi ...yada yada yada....never ever, have I had a GPU "pop n fry" when booting up....with all kinds of anomalies leading up to it 24 hrs prior......why do you think Evga is so quick to approve RMA's ?....cause there is an obvious issue with these Cards.
We can only hope n cross our fingers that either your original or RMA Card will last ;)

I have several rigs.  The Primary Rig I use for most games and tasks has had an EVGA 3090 FTW3 in it for over a year.  I am on warranty rma replace 1 since September.  My problems started gradually with low graphics intensive games and even a few high graphics intensive games.  Random graphics system crashes.. and eventually even Zoom or Google Meets would cause a graphics system crash.  Over 8 or 9 months crashes occurred after 2 hours or more.. then suddenly every half hour.  I tried different rigs same deal.

Recently I have had a few crashes.  So even the new to me refurbished gpu has issues.  However... getting another 3090 is painful and I can't sell something I know is not 100%.. not ethical.

My solution:  Since I am rebuilding both my rigs I am going to put my EVGA 3090 FTW3 in my second rig which I use primarily for general computing and work. Its not fully dependable for games and primary use stuff, least for me.  My Asrock 6900 XT Formula arrived a few weeks ago and I am waiting on some new cables from cablemod.  Going to put that GPU in my main rig, keep the EVGA 3090 FTW3 and use it in my second rig.. and sell the extra GPU I have in my second rig.  I have 4 more years on my warranty for my EVGA GPU and I will use it as I need to.

Yeah my 3080Ti FTW was solid under water for 3 months....then one day out of blue some random freezes gaming....24 hrs later hung up on boot QCode "97" then same day "pop n poof"...done...once I get this RMA refurb $1800 CDN Card under water we will see how long it lasts ;)

Welp, 2nd card didn't last long at all. Constant 90c temps, fans at 100%, then artifacts started appearing and then finally, it kicked the bucket. Onwards to the 2nd RMA. This time, I requested specifically for a Rev 1.0 card, but was told to email EVGA's 3090 team to see what they have to say first. Anyone have this same experience so far?

A year later, EVGA is still sending out Rev 0.1 versions? Pathetic.

Here's what's worse. It doesnt appear that EVGA has a Rev 1.0 card for the FTW3 Gaming (non-Ultra). Got a response back from them and this is what it says:

"Hello,

The PCB revision you are referring to applies EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA (24G-P5-3987-KR) that may allow you to reach a higher power usage when overclocking. This is unelated to issues when gaming as well as the previous issues you had with your original card and the replacement likely has unrelated issues. This revision was to achieve higher power draws and overclocks.

Regards,
EVGA"

So there's a chance that they will send out yet ANOTHER Rev 0.1 card with the red lips.

I do want to mention that I have a Rev 0.1 card (received and installed 9/25/2020) so it's part of the same batch as all of the other dead 3090s out there. It unfortunately was a late bloomer that died later than the others. Heard Rev 2.0 is fine, but I could be wrong. In any case, I can finally get rid of the red lips!

Wait..  There are Rev 2.0 cards now?

Heard unconfirmed reports on Discord, so take with a grain of salt. I'll find out definitely for sure in a few days.

Got a 3080 last week still a rev 1.0 but it had black lips. I am scared to play world of warships. I do play a lot of world of tanks with my 3080TI but i also mine to keep more stress on the card. Hope that helps it. All setting are maxed in 1440p with good fps.

Used my EVGA 3090 FTW3 ULTRA HYBRID. For a year just fine in any game you can think of maxed out no issues. World of warships latest graphics update bricked it when the port loaded........ and then my replacement RMA also died in world of warships port. My 3rd card should get here Monday we shall see how unlucky I really am with build quality QC on a $1800 product

What I want to know is, are you going to try World of Warships again?

I would if I were him. Keep just playing games that resulted in the issue happening before until it happens again, then RMA it again, and keep doing that over and over until EVGA makes this right by sending people cards that have the flaws either designed out of them or else built out of them with higher quality components. Whatever it takes. Nobody should be paying this kind of money for a video card and have the simple act of playing games kill their card. This is definitely one of those "you had ONE job..." kind of issues.

Scary.

it is for people that will experience issues in 1.5-2 years, after warranty.

Just like my previous R9 280X, 2 years after using it (lightly) got the same issue as everybody else : artifacting.

It was an Asus one, RMA got refused because it was out of warranty, but where I live theres a law for expensive stuff that wont last. its call legal warranty . Its automatic on most product, and its 'trying' to fight against obsolescence and expensive extended warranties.

Anyway, after showing them the law, and many many online articles about this issues, they replace it, 0$, with a gtx9604gb.

Its literally like they have so many failed cards returned that they keep repairing them and sending them out again to die.

The fault lies in the design and the PCB - at least later revs have some component changes.  I do pity everyone that spent all that money on the 3090 EVGA lottery.  If they reuse the same PCB and just change components for the 3090 Ti, that will be a card to avoid, it will just be limited power-wise even if its reliable enough to not just outright die on people.

Alright EVGA, ya did me good. Got upgraded from the 3090 FTW3 Gaming to the FTW3 Ultra for free. It's also the version with the black lips and more importantly, a Rev 1.0 card. NGL, their customer service is second to none. Now let's see how it handles Halo MCC.
