I recently won one of those NewEgg shuffle things and got my 3080TI from them. I received the card, replaced my 3080 with it and did some light gaming to make sure it works. I then posted my 3080 for sale and it sold in under and hour. After the card had sold I settled in for some gaming. I started Witcher 3 and 144fps @ 3860x1600 is glorious, until over-current triggered. My PC instantly went black with an audible click. I can't reboot until I cycle the switch on the PSU. I can get a pretty consistent crash at a certain spot in the game but I played for hours before finding it. Afterburner shows 350W draw on the GPU but my 850Watt gold PSU should be plenty of coverage. I have a 5900x, Gigabyte Vision 3080TI, stable 3800mhz XMP RAM and don't run overclocks. CPU stays in the 60's, GPU in the low 70's. I'm convinced this must be an issue with the 850GA. I've submitted a support question but haven't heard back. It only crashes under heavy load and in certain gaming spots. I've also crashed in AC:Valhalla but it ran Cinebench + Heaven at the same time with no problem. I also removed my cablemod extensions to the GPU and made sure there are single PCIe cables direct to the PSU. Any ideas while I wait for a response from EVGA?

His is one of the older ones that had not been updated.  There will probably still be a handful that some retailers have in a back corner that they put up later to sell.  If someone runs into a similar issue, please contact our Customer Service and we can get you squared away.

Anyone actually confirm the replacement worked? I just started RMA on mine for same reason, nervous that the 850 watts wont cut it.

It's definitely older (November 2020) but never gave me any issue with my EVGA 3080 XC3.

Since abonomi003 asked but I can't send PM's yet, I received my replacement PSU after only a few days. The replacement is handling my Gigabyte 3080ti Vision perfectly fine (as it should). I'm just waiting for the cross-ship deposit to refund and that's the end of the saga. I will say, they hold $350.00+ for a $160.00 powersupply. Kind of weird, that. Still, a pretty quick and easy process. I only live about 30 minutes away from the EVGA warehouse in Brea, so that helped with shipping time.

    Ha, thanks for replying :)

Sounds great, it was a pain swapping my PSU out before so wanted to confirm before I did it again. Yeah I live in SD, shipping only take about a day, sending my old GA back right now.

The pain with the G6 is they changed the fan curve where it has sharp spikes rather than a curve, so it is quite annoying and now Ill stickl with the GA, thanks!

Did 850GA's sold as b stock from evga.com and b-stock sold by evga on ebay have this issue resolved?

little late to the thread here. new member as well. that being said i purchased a 3080ti and the 850 ga together at microcenter a few months back. everything seemed fine until i attempted to launch modern titles that are really pushing the limits of the gpu. system specs are as follows: 5900x, msi 380ti gaming trio, asrock x570 gaming s, 32 gigs ddr4 3600, 5x samsung ssds and the 850 ga psu. so... like i said... new titles are the issue. which.... i should be able to play just about anything i throw at this system with max settings. slightly older titles like death stranding, elite dangerous, overwatch, bf4, destiny2, rdr2, metro ex, even the 3d mark port royal gets me a score of 15k+. but.... as soon as i try to play cod, bf2042 and a few others i see the power draw spike using cpuid hw monitor then blamo, hard reset..... i used event viewer to isolate potential issues. ALL critical errors pertaining to power delivery. when i submit a ticket to evga it says my screen shots are too big... which is ridiculous but ok... even if i get stuck with this hunk of junk psu i WONT be a returning customer. i don't have the option to pay for shipping the psu and waiting to get it rma'd. i would be going without a pc for the duration of the testing ect... any solutions to this or am i just SOL?

SOL -  either send the unit back for about $10 in shipping & wait for the new RMA unit..../ or go spend  ~ $200 to get a quality 1000W unit
    Good luck on your choice.

If you want to replace a EVGA PSU which you believe is faulty, the only option available to you via EVGA is to RMA the PSU and pay for the shipping to EVGA. Your other options are to buy a different PSU on your own dollar, complain and do nothing, try to get microcenter to swap or refund you, or an nearly infinite number of other choices.

This has me a little worried. I just purchased an 850GA (new) from an online seller, so I'm concerned it may be new-old-stock.

Sure, if you'd like.  If you purchased it more recently, and the serial number starts with "21", it means that you should have no concerns.  If you purchased it and it starts with "20", then feel free to PM me and I will look at it.

    Hi there,
Just signed up to have mine checked. I was told by the supplier that theirs started with '21', but after receiving it, I'm annoyed to find that it beings with '20'.
I'm unable to send a PM due to my account age. The first 7 digits are; 2001240
Would this be enough to find if I'm affected by this issue? I have a 3080 TI on the way.
    Thanks.

Honestly I would only get a 1000w quality unit if your going to leave it at stock and plan on riding that card for 6-7 years, quality 850w if you only plan to keep the pc and the card 3-5 years, q quality 1200w+ if you plan on ocing like crazy.

No, I would need the rest of the digits to be able to tell you one way or the other.  You can make 10 posts and send me a PM, or you can register the product to your account and I can look it up that way.  We strongly recommend not to post full serial numbers publicly.
