Purchased a 3070 FTW3, and Fan #3 when run between 15%-35% fan speed. In the below video you can hear the issue with the fan. The clicking is about as a loud as a mouse click. In the video I slowly ramp the fan speed up in Precision X1 until it hits around 1100 and stops clicking. Then I slow it back down and it starts clicking again, then I completely stop and start the fan again and the clicking starts yet again. Neither of the other fans on the card click like this.

Here’s a link to my public Google Drive video I had to submit to EVGA tech support documenting the issue.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/13DH9K3cgPusldXxDwoMCyIQz_o0veS7U/view?usp=drivesdk

At first I thought it was a bad fan, so I submitted a support ticket and got approval for a cross-ship RMA, and when I got the replacement card in, it does the exact same thing with Fan #3. I’m curious how many other people with this cooler have this same issue.

Given that 2 separate cards had this problem with only a single fan, I feel like it could be a software bios/fan logic issue, but I can’t completely rule out bad fans since each fan has a different color wiring connector (left fan is black, middle fan is blue, right fan is beige etc) they have to be manufactured separately in batches since they aren’t interchangeable and it’s still possible there was a bad batch of right fans.

Anyone else experiencing this or am I very unlucky to get two cards that do this?

Alright I should have enough posts now to link to a video showing the problem. Going to try and edit my original post.

It's a "feature". Fans on EVGA RTX 20xx series cards clicked as well.
RMA'ing the card is not the solution. EVGA caring enough to avoid the design problem is the solution.

EVGA better start caring, because I put $1500 collateral down for a cross-ship RMA that didn’t fix the issue. And if it’s this well known and a common problem for years without resolution then I will not likely ever buy another GPU from them, possibly not another product period. Just looking through these forums I’m seeing many others with fan issues. No other manufacture’s cards seem to do this. None that I’ve ever owned.

    I have 100% absolutely the same fan3 pulsing/clicking issue with my 3070 FTW3.
If you open X1 and check fan RPM graphs you will see how fan3 is pulsing up and down.

I've read many posts here in forums with absolutely the same problem and there is no solution for now.
Just a suggestion from folks - wait for the firmware update and hope it will help.

Personally, I don't know if this issue may decrease fan3 lifetime. Also, have no answer. I'm going to use it as-is and we'll see.

Please put an update here when you have some news.

P.S. My unit has pretty loud coil wine as well :) PSU replacement to quite expensive Asus Thor 850W didn't help.
I think I will think twice before buying a new GPU from EVGA next time because of poor QA and no further solutions.

Problem is probably all the E's they put on the fan blades that do nothing.

I have a similar issue. Every time one specific fan starts/stops it makes a clicking/rubbing sound. Below is a link to my video of it. EVGA support says it's the fan motor kicking on and the "fix" is to turn the fans to always on. I say BS. Because I can feel the card vibrate when it makes that noise and why do the other fans not make any noise when starting/stopping?

It may be simple to turn fans always on with OC bios switch.
But my unit has kinda regular bios on both, Normal and OC. So fan behavior is the same in both cases.
Probably this is one more +1 to EVGA.
    The remaining thing is X1.

I've had clicking fans before and sometimes just unmounting it and reinstalling it solved the issue ,

I gave up and set the fans to 50% as they are largely inaudible (850rpm) at that speed and much better than the clicking - use your favorite fan software (I use Argus monitor but am sure X1 would work) and set the curve - I have mine set at 50% up to 50 degrees increasing from there....

Yeah I have had fans on various gpus make noise. Most stop at 50% to 60% or of course higher. Most of my fans get set at 60%. But to be honest this happens on case fans even so called name case fans. So I never try to go for super super super quiet builds. I used to try butI gave that up a few years ago.

This is certainly not a problem with other manufacturers with fan stops.  It only exists for EVGA and their fan / controller / maybe firmware.  I am afraid the only solution would be a redesign but I don't think they're going to admit that.
