I'm about to build my first gaming PC and waiting for which graphics card I get before choosing some components. Would like to take advantage of holiday Black Friday sales which is about 2 weeks away. Can some of the more experienced builders tell me if the deals going on right now are the best we'll see or if Black Friday or Cyber Monday will show better deals?

Thanks
Dan

When the consumerism is at an extreme, there will be no good deals.  Demand is off the charts.  Consider a different hobby.

Crypto miners have been stripping the available supply bare, and driving the price up! Good luck on finding a deal.

Crypto miners have been stripping the available supply bare, and driving the price up! Good luck on finding a deal.

Correction: consumers have been stripping the available supply bare.  Miners are consumers.  Gamers are consumers.  Miners are estimated to be 25% of the buyers, and gamers/everyone else are estimated to be 75% of the buyers.  Rather than raising your pitchforks and naming an enemy, lets agree that consumers as a whole have created unprecedented demand; and even though video cards have been manufactured at a greater rate than ever before, insane demand and consumerism has caused prices to remain high and supply to remain low.
Creating an enemy benefits no one.  It's only used as an excuse to justify individuals' unpleasant or unwise actions.

    That ending though...

Let's be objective here.  We are all on this planet together and can all do whatever we want (to a limited degree).  Once we become the legal owner of an object, we can use it in any legal way we want.  It is not the job of someone else to enviously judge the way someone uses something that they legally own and use in legal ways.  I think cryptocurrency has been thus far completely useless and is a huge waste of energy, but far be it for me to judge them for competing in the marketplace.   They are just a consumer like everyone else.  Everyone who chooses to be a consumer for any reason is simply an additional consumer within that marketplace.   They should not be judged.  Who are you to judge?  What if I judge your gaming as a complete waste of electricity which selfishly benefits no one but yourself?

Nah, I'm gonna keep blaming miners.  When 25% of cards are sold to 0.25% of "consumers" and the 99.75% of consumers are competing for their one or two cards ... yeah, gonna blame miners.  Miners are also the ones supporting the outrageous scalper prices.

30% more GPUs have been manufactured than ever before. Miners have purchased 25%. It doesn't add up.

Regardless of whether it adds up, you are failing to see all of you as one big lump of consumers. When you say that miners are supporting outrageous scalping prices (even though they are the minority), how can you turn a blind eye to your non-mining companions who are also involved? How do you say that with a straight face?

I am not pro-mining. I am just anti-hate. You guys are radical and toxic.

How do you take part as a ravaging consumer and demand the products which are so objectively over-priced, and then blame a specific group for all your problems? The GPU market is destroyed at this point with no real hope for improvement any time soon. You have all assured terrible MSRP prices and power consumption in our future.

You have all sent the message loud and clear that you are impatient and you will do anything for a chance at a high-end video card.  You sent the message loud and clear to NVIDIA that you will pay 72% more money for something that is 15% faster.  You have sent the message loud and clear that you don't care about any compromises to heat and power, as long as it is faster.  All your free government money and bored days have sent terrible messages.  The marketplace is ruined for years to come, but at least you can blame miners.

Black Friday is always about being at a physical location so you can be the first in line for the rare deals. I highly doubt a high tier video card is going to be in those deals. Might have better odds on Cyber Monday, but it won't be much if any at all... just getting the ability to buy a high tier video card is hard enough as it is. At this point, if you want a RTX 3080 or above, you have to buy pre-build or pay the scalpers.

I wouldn't give up hope on a deal. You probably will not see any deals on a GPU but maybe a slight deal on a CPU or RAM. We probably will see more deals on monitors, cases, speakers, mice, keyboards and coolers.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

I’m not expecting to find a good deal on a GPU, but would like to save a little on other things such as fans, coolers, case, etc.

That's all going to be on Cyber Monday... Amazon runs it for the whole week after Black Friday, usually the other retailers keep it the same but they also don't price match during that time either. I'm thinking the biggest savings is probably going to be on Monitors this year.

Watch while places like Newegg hike up their 'was' prices by 15% then discount them down by 18% and call it a Black Friday Special.

The best BF deals will probably be in person at a Microcenter. Like right now they're offering $120 off the 5800X, which makes it $330. But you have to walk into the store for it.
