Hello!
 
I would like to change my old intel ssd and buy a new one for my windows 7 pc.
Is EVGA X58 classified compatible with the ssd Samsung 970 EVO Plus?

    The Intel SSD that you are using now, is it a standard SSD?
     
    If so then you need to change it for a standard SSD. I don't believe the X58 has an M.2 slot for an M.s SSD.

    As I said before I don't think your X58 has an M.2 slot. So if you want faster performance you'll need a faster 2.5 inch SSD. However there aren't many 2.5 inch SSDs that are faster than what you already have. 
     
    If you want an overall speed increase then a complete new upgrade of memory, processor, motherboard and M.2 SSD would be needed. Hopefully your PSU has enough wattage to support this otherwise that PSU would also need an upgrade.

    If you've got free PCI-e slots available, you could always install a M.2 NVMe SSD in to a PCI-e NVMe Adapter card as was mentioned in this forum recently.
     
    However, whether or not you'll see any significant performance improvement will be questionable as I believe the X58 is PCIe Gen. 2.0 only (while the Samsung M.2 you linked gets it's full performance on PCIe Gen. 3.0) .  As rjohnson11 said above, a complete upgrade might be a better option.

    Geeze folks.. All he's asking IMO is if he'd could use a newer model of the same format SSD. The answer is yes with the same 2TB caveat as any other system.

    The link he posted was for an M.2 SSD. However there are plenty of 2.5 inch SSDs out there with more memory he can use if he wishes.
