I have recently purchased a Nvidia Quadro K4000 3GB GDDR5 PCI-E 2.0 x16 Video Graphics Card GPU -- easy enough.

I have it installed in my computer and went to get a PCI-E modular cable from the original PS box.
One end is 6 (can be made to be 8) that is labeled PCI-E.  The other end is labeled Type3.  I have never used this cable before.
The 6 end fits into the video card perfectly.

Here is the problem.
I do not see where the Type3 end fits into the power supply. All 8 connections are listed VGA.
I have tried to plug the 8 connection into a VGA slot but is just not fitting.  I can start to force it but half-way on I just pull it off. I am currently using the modular cable that has VGA on both ends and fitted into the VGA slot in the PS. DVI connection appears to work fine but I will also be using the video card for 2 additional Display port cables.
Am I supposed to plug that Type3 modular end in a specific slot or is something messed up with this cable?

Thank you very much for reading.
Steve

Do you have a Corsair power supply?  If not, you got a wrong GPU cable.  The one with Type 3 is for Corsair PSU.

Wow very nice catch!  That cable got put in the new EVGA PS box by accident?  That answers the problem.
Interestingly though when i look at the specs of my PS it mentions there is a PCI-E that was to come with the PS package.  I bought two of these and there are no PCI-E cables anywhere which there should be two since I did not use them yet?

Question: Should there have been a PCI-E cable for each or should I assume all the cables marked with VGA and the port connections on the actual PS all state VGA can be used with a PCI-E video card and with the PCI-e performance?

    Thank you Epal2Apol

Look for the GPU cable with VGA mark on the connectors.  That's the GPU cable's mark for EVGA PSU.  PCIE marks on the connector is for Corsair PSU.  So, don't be confused it is just marking.  PCIE mark (Corsair) = VGA mark (EVGA).  The PCIE port on the GPU side is standard, so which ever brand of PSU cable you use..it will fit.

Since you are using EVGA 850W- G2, get the one with VGA mark on both ends of the connectors.  One connector goes to the PSU, other end goes to the GPU (PCIE port).  If your GPU needs two 8 pin connectors, it is safer to use two separate cables.
