Hello all,

I recently received my RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra, but I cannot get any video signal on my monitor when I connect it via HDMI.  The monitor simply does not recognize that it is connected to anything.  Now, I know both the cable and port on the monitor work, because I previously used them both without issue with my EVGA GTX 1060.  When I turn on my computer, the RTX 3080 lights up and starts cycling through colors, and all of my fans start running as well, but there is no video output.  As soon as I remove the 3080 and replace it with my old 1060 I get signal again and everything works perfectly, leading me to believe it is not a problem with the other components of my system.  I should have adequate power as I am using a Corsair RM850x, which I have seen others use without any reports of issues.  I have tried reseating the 3080 multiple times to no avail.  I have also ensured my motherboard (Asus Z87-K) is updated to the latest BIOS.  I don't have any other ideas for what I can do to fix this.  Is it possible that my GPU is DOA, or is there something else I can do to salvage this.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Friend of mine who bought a Zotac 3080 have the same issue, he said try installed an Older Nvidia Driver.

It turns out the problem was Windows 10, scan for the update. He said he reformatted the Computer and it fixed it, but an update should be sufficient.

I just checked and it seems that I am on a rather old build of Windows 10 (Specifically 1909, released in Nov 2019).  I will try updating it and see what happens.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Sounds like a bad output on the gpu. Does the issue follow the card to another pc?

tldr: It was power supply in the end used two dedicated pci-e 6+2 from psu to card rather than the dongle off the psu.

I was in the same boat. Here what I tried and finally got it going.

Brand new build- newest bios- No signal - to monitor. Noticed on the board it was showing the white led ,which meant no VGA also board was coding AE which might of meant it got past post and shows no boot drive.
Switched around cords connecting to monitor, hdmi, display port 1-3. No Joy
clear CMOS, still white led (no vga) however it posted 02, which from what I researched is worse.
Flashed bios again, back to AE.
Put in old 980 and came up fine (yay), was able to install windows Updated windows, nvidia drivers, etc.

    Now back to the card.
Put in the 3080, no display, white led, however I was getting an AA code, which means all is well and it booted into windows.

Found a post on reddit about it could be the pci-e 6+2 dongle (the one with the two on the same cord).
I put in one from the dongle, and one dedicated. No joy
I tried switching it around on the dongle, from one plug to the different plug (I saw in one old post it mattered). No joy
I switch around the order, No joy
Finally, used two dedicated pci-e 6+2 from psu. Got post, into windows (and the people rejoiced)

I sent a support ticket into EVGA and they asked me a few questions like what psu I am currently using (hx1000i) and if I'm using dedicated pcie cables which I am using 3 separate 8 pin pcie from cablemod

(+1 for cablemod lol) awesome set of cables

After telling them my issues and that I bought another 3080 ftw3 and it works perfect they had me send in the broken gpu and they sent me a brand new one like 5 days later.

EVGA coming through clutch but now I have two 3080's LOL

Don't mean to raise a dead thread, but I recently acquired a RTX 3080 and am having the same experience with video via DisplayPort. I initially had to keep both HDMI and DP cables plugged into my Samsung Odyssey G7 monitor and disable the "1st display" (HDMI port) in the nVidia Control Panel so that Windows 10 would output to the "2nd display" (DP port).

I came across a "solution" to the problem after discovering that the monitor needs to be powered off before turning my PC on to display via DP port. I let the PC post and boot up the OS lock screen before powering on my monitor. Strange behavior indeed.

You might have a bad dp cable with the 29th pin activated. I believe I'm going through the samething with my 3080 fe. I've had nothing but problems since I switched from 2080ti. Same cables and monitors but these problems galore. Currently waiting for new cables to get here tomorrow.

Did the new cables solve your problem?

I have both the HDMI and DP plugged into my Predator X34P monitor from my EVGA 3080 FTW3. When I switch to DP on the monitor itself there is no signal. When I open the NVIDIA control panel, it only detects the HDMI port. I'm trying to figure out how you disabled the 1st display, HDMI, to force it to use the DP port. Does this mean my DP cable is bad?
