If you check out this thread, someone else was in a similar situation and managed to claim it back.

i may be wrong but I believe items being returned for repair are exempt from VAT and duty. I believe it's called "return goods relief". What's odd is that if anyone (and if this is a return, it should be exempt), EVGA should be charged with the import duty.

    Hi shahzadasweet,

the most important ones, declare the product within the correct value and RMA product - through the upcoming VAT regulations from your country, please go to https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs which explains best about the VAT in general and how to claim back.

    Thx,

So they are trying to charge you customs for sending? I think replies in this topic are thinking you're getting charges for receiving the RMA back. In which case the BOR286 form is what I had to fill in to get a refund.

For sending ignore DPD. Go with UPS. If you get a proforma invoice from EVGA CS you can ignore sending tax estimates. EVGA won't get charged at Germany end if DDP is used (delivery duties paid), which the proforma invoice is proof enough of, coupled with you selecting DDP during creating a UPS label.

You could try getting a proforma invoice from EVGA and telling DPD it is being sent DDP and see what they say.

Do not pay anything in terms of customs to send the card, you might not get it back/refunded if you do. The only customs/charges you should be paying if you get them is on receiving your RMA, as Parcelforce will not release the package to you unless you pay. Then that can be claimed back with a BOR286 form. Border Force in the UK are blaming EVGA for VAT charges coming back into the UK, as you can see in the scanned letter here https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3454405 I have the same letter.

I don't believe EVGA CS Europe has done anything to remedy this yet, but I'm going to nudge them again by sending CS a copy of that letter with the reason for incorrect VAT charges being raised coming into the UK.

Good information. I (thankfully) don't need to send anything to EVGA at the moment, but am trying to educate myself just in case.

When you say to ask for a 'proforma invoice' is this something you would expect CS to just be able to provide just by name? or is there anything specific about the contents of it that we should ask them for? or do you have an example of what we should be looking for?

The best information I could find was that when sending something you would want to somehow get Outward Processing Relief (OPR) since it is a repair, which can apparently be authorised at the border as long as you use CPC 21 00 004 and should avoid you having to pay duties or VAT in either direction.

Although I don't really understand what most of that means, so any other input is appreciated.

Yeah, CS offer it. They even offered it me in advance of asking when I had my RMA. EVGA fill in the invoice for you, just stick 3x copies of it it to your parcel for sending through UPS. When creating your UPS label just say the value EVGA put on the proforma invoice and make sure to tick the DDP box.
