TechPowerUp - IKEA is Finally Ready to Sell You its ASUS ROG Co-branded Gear

“Just over a year ago, IKEA and Asus teased that they were working on something together and from October, you'll actually be able to buy the first products. There will be more than 30 new products in total, ranging from "gaming" desks and chairs, to key "gaming" accessories like mug holders and neck pillows.

It's highly likely that the pandemic has delayed these products, since they launched in China back in January, but now it seems like stock should be arriving globally. In total, there will be six product families. The six families are UPPSPEL, LÅNESPELARE, MATCHSPEL, GRUPPSPEL, UTESPELARE, HUVUDSPELARE, which pretty much are all borrowed from various football (soccer to our American readers) terms in Swedish.

IKEA estimates that there are no less than 2.5 billion gamers globally and they obviously want a slice of the gaming cake. The most amusing part of the press release from IKEA, are the quotes from Asus. How some furniture can be exciting gaming innovations is a bit hard to imagine, but we're sure Asus knows a lot about gamers pain points, based on how angular some of their gaming products are.

‘We know a lot about gamer needs, pain points and expectations, and we want to design solutions for ultimate, immersive gaming experiences.’ - says Johnny Chan, Asus Republic of Gamers designer.”

Another source to customize your set up and to help relieve your “pain points.”  However,  assemble will be required, which may be another pain.

The rog name is extending to cheap furniture... yeah let that soak in. Rog, Asus top end brand name is having IKEA use their name on their cheap furniture, makes perfect since.

My thoughts exactly.  But to be fair...IKEA can make half decent things if there are things which does not require constant touch and movement.  And something like a shelf or cabinet that does not see constant movement can actually last a while.  I built my entire office using IKEA white glossy lacquer type cabinet doors from the ceiling down a few feet and one large cabinet on the side from the floor to the ceiling. I've had this configuration for about 3 years, and nothing has split apart, yet.

ASUS starting to pimp their name out on just  about anything these days...

Almost getting as bad as  'warhammer' licensing out their name to any pile of garbage who will pay the fee...

My Markus chair from Ikea is working nicely after a couple of years still. *knocks on wood*.
But on topic: This just means more expensive furniture for the brand name.

I personally like IKEA stuff. I don't quite know how I feel about the the new ROG stuff but I would grab it in the white color they plan to offer.
