i suspect there is more reason for a co choosing to ignore such a large "otherside".

The "otherside" hasn't been a competitor in many years, until very recently.

Why doesn't XFX make nvidia gpu's?

Wiki says:
"Originally, XFX only produced Nvidia graphics cards; however, during the beginning of 2009, XFX decided to begin manufacturing ATI (now AMD) graphics cards as well. Nvidia disapproved of this decision and removed XFX as an official partner. As a consequence, XFX was unable to produce any of the new ("Fermi") generation of Nvidia GPUs.[2]"

Why doesn't sapphire make nvidia cards?

Probably the same reason as XFX. Probably something to do with why EVGA is nvidia/Intel exclusive. We could probably sit here and speculate forever. EVGA is the only ones that could answer for sure.

That's actually kinda wrong, theres more to it then that. What happened was that XFX wanted to sell the new Nvidia series cards but to do so Nvidia insisted they also take a equal share of the lower end cards from the previous series, which they did not want to sit on a bunch of stock that wasn't really going to sell. So they declined Nvidias offer and broke as partners and went ATI/AMD exclusive instead. As we all can see, that didn't work out well for them either.

Why does EVGA no make AMD cards?

All this being said, while my i7 6900 K is still a monster machine even if it's no longer the fastest machine I could build with infinite budgetary resources, the new AMD cpus are extremely interesting, and over the next year or two if their offerings become too good not to use for a machine rebuild, it would be sad not to be able to use an EVGA mobo. I've been pretty much straight EVGA for some time now for both graphics cards and mobos (and, for the most part, power supplies), and I'd happily keep that up if I should decide to go the AMD route for cpu at some point. Oh well.

How does EVGA feel partnering with the underdogs?
 
Will EVGA consider working with AMD if their GPU's stomp on Nvidia, like their CPU's stomped on Intel?
 
I'm so used to buying your cards, they have been reliable! Who do I buy from now

It would be interesting if EVGA decides to get involved when Zen 4 comes out after seeing what Zen 3 is doing.  I would love an EVGA AMD board, but that'll have to wait for the future, if at all.  Gotta settle for an Asus, which is no slouch either. 

I really can't wait for the independent reviews of the new AMD cards. They can't come soon enough and probably will explain to people why EVGA doesn't make AMD cards.

You dont keep a company alive with loyalty, specially when the product you are selling is having issues with meeting demand

 
As far as short supply impacting profits, obviously yes, and the blame for that lies firmly on the shoulders of NVidia. You have no argument from me on that point.
 
When ALL the AIBs are experiencing supply issues, then yes, loyalty to your clients is most definitely a way to contribute to keeping the company alive, and that is exactly what EVGA did when they implemented the queue system.
 
 
 

It's been said before. EVGA can't snap its fingers and just make AMD boards... it needs to be able to afford up front investment costs R&D costs, and then hiring additional engineers and devs to make the AMD stuff. Some of that can probably be handled by the Intel team, but not all of it. I'm not sure EVGA is in a position right now to even make the capital expenditures needed... but if they can they definitely should be considering it. Intel has dominated gamers for so long, EVGA is going to lose a ton of motherboard sales now that AMD has the better gaming chips.
