Fired up the rig, no boot. POST LED repeatedly cycles through: 7F, 30, 44, 00, 4C, 3E, 32, 35, 45, 37, 39, D5. This occurs in all three BIOS switch positions. Tried flashing BIOS, using the USB included with the motherboard bundle, in the onboard USB header, following the procedure on page 143 of the manual. No success.

Try booting with a single stick of ram.

+1. If you get another failure swap that one stick of ram with another.

Tried two different, previously working, RAM kits. Both sticks together, then rotated those to the to other slot, then each stick separately in each slot. I must have restarted rig 50 times over a couple hours trying anything I could think of. Do not have another CPU, but I doubt that is the issue.

DEJ915 Try reseating cpu.
Is it normal for a CPU need to be re-seated? Rig has been working well for about a year since I last tore it down. Never had the need to do that before, although, I suppose anything is worth a try. My thought is the BIOS chip is defective. I did have a bad BIOS chip on my X58 board some ten years back.

I wouldn't say normal, no, but sometimes the little leaf springs in the socket lose contact for whatever reason and reseating helps.

Reinstalled CPU, same issue. D5 = No Space for Legacy Option ROM. Does that not indicate a BIOS chip problem?

Not sure there, I would contact EVGA support about it.

I have, and so far, only RMA has been offered. I have asked for a new BIOS chip, even offering to pay for it, but no response to that request. They asked for a pic of the CPU socket, which I sent. No reply stating they observe any issues with the socket. Frankly, it makes more sense to me to have evga send a $.58 envelope, than for me to pay $30 to ship the motherboard to them. Why not try the easy, less expensive option first?
