I dont know if its related but my z590 FTW failed.  the post code led display was completely non functional and the fans spun up to 100%.  Customer service was pretty bad on this and actually denied my RMA initially.  I cant believe I'm saying this but I think I'm going to go with asus and an extended warranty through best buy moving forward.  Here is a link to what happened with my Z590 FTW.

Add me to the list. Z590 FTW.

In December I decided to go back to showing the cpu temp. Yesterday the lower right segment of the first digit went dim, almost out.
More to follow, I guess.

Edit: 4 hours later and that segment is dead. But something weird. My system is idling right now going back and forth from 30 to 29 and back. The 3 digit is dim in all segments and the bad segment is dead. But the 2 digit is bright in all segments, 3 of which are also used by the 3 digit. When it switches back to the 3 digit all remaining segments go dim. The poor thing is struggling

Frustrating and disappointing as hell.

I now firmly believe this failure is factory standard

Add another Z590 FTW Post LED Fail.   Gonna try turning them off in bios.

All along I assumed the led readout was defective or over driven with voltage or current.
I have since learned that with my board that is not the case.

Even now, it's a cool morning where I am, the cpu temp is 29c. The digits are nice and bright like they were brand new.
But whenever any other digit is displayed in the left digit position whether its a number or a letter (during post) then all segments of the left digit go very dim with the bottom right segment totally gone.

My conclusion is that whatever is driving the display is the problem. Maybe this will help EVGA, if they even care.
They may not since they never responded.
I'm thinking about buying the z690 Classified but researching whether they have the same problem.

Thank you for that info! That's a relief.
That readout pisses me off every time I look at it.

My 590 FTW has worsened.. initially it was only the second digit that was having issues, now the first digit is pretty much completely gone, and the second digit only shows the vertical bars and sometimes the middle horizontal bar.

The following pic shows it, but the camera picks up a lot more light then what you see irl - the first digit you can barely see irl, and those horizontal bars on the second digit you cannot see at all irl.

I'll be RMA'ing it soon.

Amazing!
Was playing Cyberpunk and looked over at my computer and the POST led display is working!
https://imgur.com/a/pwoFXGg

Wonder if it will last.

Edit: The only change I made recently is a new power supply. I can't imagine how that could be related and it probably isn't.
Edit #2 - 2 days later - back to non-functioning status. Oh well!

Well, add me to the list of bad LED's.

Finally got this thing put together, and it took less than a week for the LED's to begin failing.

The left one is going bad, frequently shifting from working to not. The right one, so far, has had no issues.

I've been using it to keep an eye on CPU temps, since I had an extremely poor experience with MSI, and just don't trust their hardware at this point. This is the second unit sent to me as an RMA (third overall) and seems to be working, but I'm not taking chances.  I've had the PC turned slightly so I can glance over at the LEDs from time to time to see how the temps are (very underwhelmed, my air cooled machine had similar temps) and noticed that they're misbehaving.Z

Honestly, I don't know what's up with EVGA the last year or so. Normally, quality is a given. Between this and the ridiculous way they've handled the 3090 power fiasco, I'm just a bit concerned that this is the beginning of a trend.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but yeah, I’m done with evga for reliability. I’ll just get a founders edition for video cards and then water cool it. As far as motherboards… never again.

lol yeah, go get an ASUS board - good luck with that and their CS should you have any issues! Oh, and make sure you have fire insurance (I'm assuming you're aware of their latest Z690 recall; link).

It seems apparent that EVGA got sold a really bad batch of LED displays. So far they've had zero issues replacing boards under RMA when requested - the boards themselves function reliably either way. The only reason I'm doing an RMA is because I've upgraded and want to sell the old board. As far as I'm aware, this issue has thankfully not continued into the Z690 line. Not sure how you figure this issue relates to their GPUs though, but you do you. Good luck!

If you follow their link in post #151, you can see why they feel burned on EVGA's customer support. I think the lack of response on the failed POST LEDs is just icing on the cake for them, but that's an assumption on my part. From my perspective, it sounds like they got really poor support in their first phone call and the only mistake they made was discarding the board before pressing EVGA on the issue. That said, if they had proper support the first time, maybe they wouldn't have discarded the board. They also had to RMA their 3090 FTW3 about 3 times and end up swapping for an XC3 before they got one that worked right...so I get why they're frustrated at this point. I'm pretty sure if that was your most recent two experiences with any company, you'd feel the same way.

Thanks for that. 3 cards and 1 motherboard all died one after the other? Fair enough - I'd certainly be unhappy about that too.. although after that many issues in a row I'd also wonder if maybe something else was causing it, like the PSU or grounding or cables etc. No idea why someone would discard an otherwise fully functioning mobo because of a faulty LED post code display though.

The only reason I think EVGA didn't respond to the LED issue in general is because the mobos are still otherwise fully functional, and perhaps they didn't want to end up with thousands of RMAs where the user would not have cared otherwise. Whether that's a correct decision by EVGA is another question entirely, lol. Personally, I would've quietly acknowledged the issue on the forums but reiterated it did not otherwise impact board functionality, and advised RMA is available if the user so desired. I'd also be going back to wherever they sourced these LED displays and looking for compensation.

I've had 2 other boards with the same LED issue prior to this Z590 FTW, and had zero problems with EVGA processing an RMA on them, so not sure why that person had problems with EVGA CS... might be more to the story than what we are being told?...

The LED wasn't why their motherboard failed. LED also failed, but that wasn't why they had to replace it.

add my X570 ftw mobo to the list. at first the second digit had a couple dim spots for a few weeks but now both LEDs can be dim. I really dont want to have to do a fullblown RMA over this though. Ill probably just keep going as is unless something else farts out.

I just noticed that my Z590 DARK exhibits the same issue. This actually prevents me from seeing the post codes. The LEDs are super dim and half of the bottom section is missing. I'm requesting an RMA, I'll update the thread accordingly.

I finally put together my z590 dark after rma'ing the first one for the post code leds, they sent me a sealed new replacement. But it sat in its box until two weeks ago. The leds have failed within two weeks of use, again. It also has a weird problem if i set static fan speeds the board just randomly decides there is no fan attached at all and stops them. It actually overheated my gpu loop before i noticed that ALL the fans on gpu loop werent spinning. Cpu loop fans were tho. I also see that they never fixed the cpu speed cap of 5.2ghz in the eleet x1 app. Z590 Dark has been the worst board ive ever used. Doesnt help that evga abandoned it really quick for z690.

Mine failed too on my Z590 Dark.

It's not a deal breaker, but, kind of a bummer.  It's a very useful feature when it works.  Also bad on an X299 Dark I bought, but, I think the PCB is slightly bent in that area so that's not the boards fault.

Same problem on my X570 FTW, the left digit went dim (but not all the parts) It can display 4 but not 3,5 etc... shouldn't happen with a board this expensive. Do they even have a spare?

Honestly not sure if this is a sign of my post LED failing on my x570 dark, but extra digits are being rendered on the 2nd POST segmented display. Only noticed this after rebuilding my pc with a new case that uses a glass side panel (beforehand I was using a full metal case). This only happens for certain digits, so i dont think its worth RMA'ing yet, sure do hope I'm still under warrenty when this fail, if it does. Its wonky behavior IMO for a POST light, but then again, this is the first time I've ever seen a 4 digit - 8 segment display on a motherboard. Aslong nothing's shorting I'm happy
