I'm looking to upgrade to a 3080 sometime in the future from my 1080. Is there any difference between the XC3 and the FTW3 models of the 3080?

The xc3 is the base model card in all their lineup. Reason I changed my mind between 3080 ftw and 3080 ti ftw. I think the cooler is different and definitely the power. Two bios instead of one also.

stick with FTW3.
 
xc3 is probably worse than even nvidia reference AIBs. Not just FE, but the normal reference ones.
 
xc3 still uses the old analog up9511r and just the bare minimum power phases
 
some speculated the earlier 3090 and FTW which use the up9511r are the real reason for new world death.
 
Since then, evga switched to onsemi controllers for those replacements
