Swapped my previous memory kit for a 4266mhz kit (F4-4266C17D-32GTZRB) and now I'm stuck in the bios whenever I boot the computer. Installing my old memory kit doesn't solve the issue. Installing just 1 stick of either kit in the primary dimm doesn't solve the issue.

Pressing the reset cmos button now brings up a check sum error with a prompt to skip the bios but selecting skip still opens the bios. When I first installed the 4266mhz kit I was able to skip the bios and boot into windows where the kit was running at around 4000mhz. I restarted the computer to re-enable my OC and enable XMP and that's when I seemed to have bricked my motherboard.

Enabling xmp disables the computer from booting even to bios.

If the motherboard is only rated for 4133mhz is it possible that installing a 4266mhz kit could brick it?

Any solutions?

Manually set the ram speed to safe one like 2400. Make sure no other variables have changed and try and boot up. Hyper speed ram doesn't work well in this board with only 2 sticks, I had to have 4 installed.

I set the speed to 2133mhz but it still went to the bios when I saved and restarted. Also I'm using the z370 matx which only has two dimms.

Forgot to mention in the OP that when the PC boots up the motherboard makes a series of beeps.

Totally missed it was a Z370 and not Z390. What is the 1st boot device on the boot setup page? If it can't find an OS it will generally revert back to the bios screen.

Boot Option #1 is Hard Disk.

Under the sata configuration tab my boot drive is recognized so that's not the problem.

I also didn't mention that there are graphical glitches loading into the bios but I don't know if they're abnormal.

Just because the bios sees the hard drive does not mean it's okay. Are you booting UEFI or Legacy?

What you should also do if the issue occurs with only 1 stick of memory installed is remove the CPU cooler and check for bent CPU/socket pins.

I was booting in UEFI before the problem began. When I boot into Legacy the hard drive is not recognized. The message reading: Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key.

The problem didn't begin after installing the CPU and the CPU hasn't been removed since it was installed in 2018.

I have a dual boot win10 setup and recently lost the ability to boot in the 2nd older version of windows. It is a UEFI system. After using some tools in the main windows, I found the bootloader was corrupted in the hidden partition and the assigned drive letter for the disk was gone. Try using a win 10 installer on memory drive and go to system repair section to check the disk. You may end up searching for the DOS line commands to repair the bootloader. Hopefully its not that bad and the repair tool can help.

I booted into a win 10 installer but the repair tool wont launch. I press enter and the window just flashes.

Considering getting a blank drive and installing windows to it and repairing the previous boot drive from there.
