Well, this is my cue to finally upgrade from the X99 for my main rig this winter.

Remember, this is a Dark motherboard. $500 will be the starting price for it.

Doesn't surprise me. If it was a Threadripper EVGA SR-A mobo I'd actually expect it to be more expensive. 

I don't see how a Dark motherboard fits into your computer usage, but hey go for it.

Odd, just what is my computer usage? 

It's not setting records, that's for sure.

Let me get this straight, one shouldn't buy an EVGA black series mobo unless cooling it with LN2? What are they gonna sell, 100 of them with that measure of end use? 
 
My X99 Classified is OCed and has a water cooling loop. I have no use for ladder climbing benchmark charts though. It's about having fun building something.

EVGA doesn't make a black series motherboard. What I'm getting at is you're wasting your money buying the Dark motherboard. There are plenty of great Ryzen motherboards out there that don't cost near as much as a EVGA Dark motherboard. By all means buy what you want, it's your money. Just giving you some friendly advice and it seems to enrage you for some odd reason.

Anybody remember when this took a lot of work & testing to achieve?? 


I always did like my X58 Classy...


It took the majority of the members efforts to find the proper OC settings to have it stable at 4.2G

Sure did.  Lots of trial & error.  Or BSOD's in most case...


That's right, even Shamino back then, gave his 2 cents and advice in reaching that goal. If I remember correctly he did help out many members at the Overclocking thread. Miss those days

EVGA doesn't make a black series motherboard. What I'm getting at is you're wasting your money buying the Dark motherboard. There are plenty of great Ryzen motherboards out there that don't cost near as much as a EVGA Dark motherboard. By all means buy what you want, it's your money. Weren't you using that x99 Classified Rig about a project you had going at that time? May I ask is it finished?🤔

I've done so many projects over the years tearing apart rigs and putting them to use in different visual systems. If you mean the projector room scale visual systems, personally I did a new prototype screen once a year for the last decade. For customers I assisted with 632 project builds. The X99 has been torn apart and rebuilt in a dozen different ways since 2016. Considering my tendency to tinker, nothing is truly done. Functional and working, yes. Done, no.

My last eVGA motherboard was the x58, my MSI X570 has been a solid board. eVGA has alot to prove....

Man those were fun times doing the X58 Stability Club. Drerex did an a great job on those badges, now he's doing skins for Afterburner.
