Actually the 2mm Gelid Ultimates work really well on the hybrid at least. I did put paste on them. Although at this point I would try the Kritical 20 W/mk pads.

Yeah, I personally don't understand why EVGA promotes modifying cards. If you need to RMA it you need to put oem pads and putty. I don't claim to know a lot on pads and putty, but does it matter? You'd be able to tell if improper pad/paste replacement cause card failure right?

Yep, I bought a few kits last fall. They are not complete if you intend to replace ALL pads. 1) No pads are included for the backplate, 2) No pads are included for areas where putty is used (at least for my 3070Ti XC3 GPU VRM chokes), More info here.

I honestly tried 2.5 on 2.25, with pads a bit softer than Gelid. They're fine but GPU temps were 8-10 C higher than normal hybrid because the chip wasn't touching the base plate close enough. Still lower than air-cooled though.

What pads did u try with? Gelid is just so stiff for me, and when I compress it, it becomes kinda brittle and easy to break apart.

It's a pretty good idea to have the thermal pads for sale since I could see a lot of people wanting them and even if someone owns another brand of card I could see them rather get a thermal pad from a company that makes video card over someone unknown to them.
