Hello everyone, I am hoping I can find some help here as of late I am not 100% sure what to do. The issue I am having is my computer will crash. Screens will go black and it will appears as if the system shut down. However the case lights and fans will still be running but the GPU fans will be at 100%. The only way to start the pc again is to do a hart rest and unplug the power supply.

This issue can happen while gaming, watching movies or just sitting idle doing absolutely nothing. The last 2 times it has crashed I have been away from my room with the pc just sitting there with nothing open.

I have checked drivers it has happened with 3 different drivers, I have checked over heating and temps are well within the limits maxing out at 76 when streaming + gaming. I have done a 3D mark run, I have gamed for hours on end and streamed for 8 plus hours in one go and no crash. It is VERY random as to when it happens, I just do not know WHY it happens. I haven't taken the GPU apart yet to check the thermal paste incase it is that and I have not updated the vbios cause honestly up until now I didn't even know that was a thing. I have also checked all the cables to make sure they are plugged in properly as I read that was a common issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

CPU: RYZEN 7 2700X

Psu or gpu issue. Download occt and run the 3D test to see if your system will crash. If nothing happens after 15 minutes on the 3D test try the power supply test next.

I am pretty confident that it will be the GPU dying as the crashes are random and it doesn't seem to matter what load it is under, that and I just replaced the PSU like a month ago but you never know. Right now I have my 1070 in my machine, I will have to put the 2080 back in and do the tests.

Ok. I have done both the tests you recommended and both went through without an issue. 15min on both tests no crashing at all. When I was putting my 2080 back in I noticed the plug going into the PSU was not 100% "clicked" in. I was able to just pull it out, so this could of been the issue to. Clearly I did not check everything thoroughly before hand.

Hopefully everything will continue to run good now that you clipped the cable in.

Well. It was fine for 5 days after removing it and putting it back in. Then it crashed again. I think the card is just about to die or some other issue cause it doesn't seem to have any reason behind it. I can't send it back as I got the card from a friend as it was his old card. Maybe I should just put my 1070 back in and call it a day haha

did you check if any of your cables got loose? and check if its dusty or anything/clean it. also check it any of the lights from your motherboard turn on (the check lights)
