I got in about 50 times since 9:00 AM PST. Every time I went to notify, I got capacity or error 17. Finally got in at 10:20AM. Jesus, this needs to be better thought out by EVGA.

I couldn't even sign up today. I got into the 3080 TI and 3070 TI queues, but not for any of the hyper copper xc3 or xc3 ultras.

Same here. I still can't get in despite having multiple times to fill in my notify info. Still trying just to see if it's possible though. Error 17 is killing me.

doing something multiple times in the same manner and expecting a different result each time is defined as....... ?

EVGA could have all of AWS servers available for bandwidth and load on their website and it would still go down because there are mass amounts of people all wanting to do the same exact thing at the same exact time.

Its like trying to hold a mob of 5000 people from entering Walmart on Black Friday - its just not going to work out the way you think it is.

Their server might be big, but with so many people logging in at the same exact time, it could cause the server to crash/overload, and cause people to have to wait or refresh the website many times. This has happened when the 3060 launched, and it sucked. Alot. Too many server crashed and code 17's

nope you are right. 100 percent our fault for relying on evga. at this point a scalper is far more reliable and that hurts to type

SAME I didn't get in until 11:10 AM PST....however sadly.

9:35 AM was the first ERROR 17 for me.  Before that it was just blank white boxes if the notify button was even clickable.

Thought I was going to get a good time myself, it was about 9:07 and only every got an error. Not the error and email, nope, just error after error.

Don't worry I got good advice in another thread that asked if I was really doing my best.....

Re: That was a nightmare 2021/06/15 12:47:51 (permalink)
EVGA like everyone else has thought plenty about this. There are ways this process could improve no doubt but when it comes to people complaining about timeouts and site errors I'm not sure they've thought rationally about the expectation that a vendor sink a bunch of money into the initial and recurring maintenance costs to improve the experience for an event that happens like once every 1.5+ years.

Vast majority of the time the sites are likely relatively low traffic. How many people are on the forums at once? How many actively using and checking out in the online store? You can't justify completely revamping the setup when 90% of the time you have zero need for it.

I do think they should look into a system that only allows a specific set of users to attempt to sign up for auto-notify during specific times with a specific URL. They can select those randomly after some initial limited time sign-up period which is a few weeks prior to launch or whatever. That is kind of the idea with elite vs non-elite queues but since becoming elite takes basically nothing I don't think that helps much.

And if anyone has an issue with random selection: that's essentially what we have now anyway.

The way I see it is it's not worth it to them to pay for the increased capacity at times like these. It's not like they're losing money, people are still managing to sign up for the notification and they're constantly sold out of cards. I'm not saying I love it, I'm just saying that's sadly how it is.

they could always stop letting everyone buy one of every card.. or not let 100 comments be elite status.. how many cards alone would that open up to elite members,, evga would never tell you anyways while some have 8 cards oither haze zero even when they showed up just as early and tried just as hard. if i signed up late id have no one to blame but myself. however when you do all the rights things and see others constantly do better it just makes sense to give my money to someone that can provide a product

I'm not a very lucky person but this time was far better than the last two.  Discord links to the products and auto notify url ahead of time really does help.

Servers got overloaded, too many people at the same time tried to enter the queue. This is normal, especially in these times.

Even major websites, for example, amazon, can get slower because of high demand.

I'm trying to get a 3070 ti /3070/ or 3060 for one of my friends (he has a 1050 ti right now) and I was only able to enter at 10:22 AM PT, I got on the website no problem right away when it opened at 9 AM PT but there was no auto notify button, I refreshed 3 more times no button, then it stopped working all together.

EVGA neither have developers with high concurrency experience nor have high concurrency infrastructure.

AWS have enough resources to meet the requirement, don't underestimate them.

Please, I support EVGA, I like their program, EVGA does great video cards.  But it's honestly an insult to Amazon to compare EVGA with Amazon website...we won't have prime day if these two websites are comparable.

Well there would be no problems if there were enough video cards.
Fixing the website only allows more customers to compete for products that do not exist.
If you are the EVGA CEO you probably don't care about fixing the website for one day, compared to increasing the supply of video cards.

same here.  I was on at the start.  soon as I refreshed for the auto notify button, bam ,,, byebye screen. then it teased by allowing me to fill out the information and then hit enter ... ugh ... time out session comes up.... 11:05am ... what a stinky time.  At least it's a better place than my other potential cards.  Just seeing which comes first --- only need one card of something to replace the relic I have.
