I have watched a lot of videos recently on people making water cooled gaming computers and since I am in the market to build a new computer I was wondering your guys's thoughts on water cooling and If it is worth it? My main concern is price since I dont want to go overkill for my new pc.

I haven't tried water cooling yet but I think it's definitely worth trying sometime if only for the experience. The entry cost is indeed a bit of a turnoff but I think many of the parts can be reused (fittings, reservoirs, rads) that it might not be a bad investment in the long term.

I think it is worthwhile as well as enjoyable.  I've been water cooling for over ten years on both my wife's and my system.  It does require more maintenance but it is not onerous at all.

Cost is a factor, but you can start with soft tubing and barb fittings which are not very expensive.  One thing I would advise is to use quality components (fittings, reservoirs, pumps, etc.) and not the cheapest you can find.  Several companies make kits to help you get started, e.g. Corsair, EK, and others, and this possibly is a good way to begin.

Just be meticulous in your build, have a thought out plan, take your time, and recheck everything you do.  They are plenty of resources available to help you.

    Good luck.

If you run your cards very hard, it can be. In the summer my fans get loud and I know I could benefit from some liquid cooling.

Depends. Looks great, perform great but cost a lot of money. Not worth money but if you can afford it sure.

if money were no subject, i mean there is nothing really wrong with water cooling

but if you have a budget, why would you risk it?

I was thinking about getting an AIO but linus tech tips had a video where they did a test and the AIOs weren't any better than just a big heatsink and a fan. So I just bought a Noctua.

    "Worth it" is totally subjective.

In terms of performance/dollar, no it's not. You can get more performance, but it's generally a barely noticeable amount over what could be achieved with an optimized air cooled system for a lot less hassle and considerably less money.

However. For many(though far from most), myself included, building the pc is just as much a part of the hobby as playing games on it. I enjoy building and tinkering with my computer so the added maintenance is more fun than annoying. Seeing what else I can get out of my system is also fun, and it's really the only way to extend the computer building experience. If you take pride in the computer as much as your skill in games, then water cooling is definitely worth it.
