It would be great if they actually carried some inventory. The local best buy might get a few cards a month.

Best Buy did this with the 3080 Ti launch, I wish I had gone for it, would have been my only chance to get a high end GPU this year. I wish that they would continue to do that kind of in store drop with a set time, but I'm guessing it was more work for them and either way they sell it they end up making a profit.

But NVidia didn't is the problem.... 3080TI had a few in stores...people you know could have gotten them.... then next day the rest of the stock was given to bots you know? Just sell them all at BB.

As much as I hate the way it is now, I'd hate even more if I constantly had to go to Best Buy to check for cards, or try to camp out only for there to not be enough. Not that those of us with adult jobs can camp out overnight for a dang video card anyway.

I'd camp out an entire night at a best buy if AND ONLY IF it would guarantee me a card

I think the pandemic influenced some of these decisions.

It looks good for businesses when their product is getting bought out asap. So putting them in stores is just a waste of time.

Cause there is no so much GPUs now, so miners and scalpers will got them in no time. Also, retailers are the same scalpers, at this moment.

I mean they do at Microcenters. Unfortunately I don't live close to one.

But they're selling out instantly already business don't really care who's buying it.

Most retail is moving to online. I'm surprised there are still so many physical stores for tech items

I mean, why would they need to if they already can't meet demand?

They don't need to. I guess I assume if they want to keep gamers as customers... then it would help gamers. I assume they'd make more money just selling to bots though.

Stores are finally opening up in Canada. Might get easier now to obtain one in store!

I'd be very wary? Weary? Worried about getting a used card especially now since miners might be selling them off soon. How many hours have they run at max speed and temp 24 hours a day!? I think I heard there's a way to tell though like a shutter count for DSLR cameras?

Makes you wonder how many unsold video cards are sitting in display windows unsold.

Probably to avoid any inperson conflict. I personally like having the chance to buy the cards online rather then camping out at a store like Microcenter.
