So I scored a beaut, an EVGA GTX 690 in perfect condition, just freshened up paste and pads and its idling at 32c. When checking GPU-Z it says its running at PCIe1.1 (Zenith Extreme w/1920x) im about to restart and try setting to 3.0 manually, also BIOS looks to be 1 version behind according to TechpowerUp, they say 80.04.1E.00.91 is latest, mine is running 80.04.1E.00.90 per GPU-Z. I need proper advice on updating BIOS to latest version (legit EVGA file and update app\method) I read online to contact EVGA support but figured id try here first. Any help from an EVGA techy\support personel would be much appreciated. Ty :) Rich

Also I just noticed UEFI isnt checked, which kinda explains why during bootup i get a red screen when connected thru my minidisplay port>displayport but odd cuz when i hook up my DVI monitor i can access BIOS fine and see normal boot screen, anyone know the reason for this? Why would DVI work with EUFI but not minidisplayport?

Running at 1.1 at idle is fine. If it was running at 1.1 while gaming that would be a problem. Uefi not being checked isn’t a big deal either unless you need it. I’m thinking their may be something wrong with that dp output on your card, or you could have a bad dp cable that is causing the red screen.

Its now reading as PCIe3.0 after a reboot. And Im using the DP port, it just doesnt see the Boot screen but soon as Im in windows it works perfect (Althought max refresh is 120hz but i read thats because thats the max of the GPU tho) and I just noticed GPU#1 bios is x.x.x.x.90 and GPU#2 is x.x.x.x.91 are they supposed to each have separate BIOS? Also I found this on the EVGA GTX 690 Owners Club [www.overclock.net/threads/official-nvidia-gtx-690-owners-club.1249960/page-279] Seems an EVGA tech posted the update im looking for, an auto installer for this exact purpose, anyone have any experience with it? Was posted in 2016 so def seems to be the most up to date. Thx for the reply bro, appreciate it

Different vbios versions on each switch is normal.

Ty Sajin, this is my 1st experience with a Dual GPU, any thoughts on that autoinstaller i linked above? Anyway to confirm that is in fact the UEFI vBIOS needed to update this GPU? Is that the most\updated vBIOS for the EVGA GTX 690? I know its an old card but its what I have til I can find something at\near MSRP >.< Thx again bro, really do appreciate any\all help. O and my MiniDP adapter is generic and my DP cable branbd name 8k60hz spec. Now that i think of it it did run fine (get into BIOS) when i tested it on my CrosshairVIIHero board, maybe its a BIOS setting on my Zenith Extreme, but still id like the most updated vBIOS if possible, im just one of those techy nerds lol :)

BTW, This is the main reason I want to update GPU vBIOS, I posted the quoted comment below on a thread while researching why Im not seeing BIOS Splash Screen during PC BootUp. A few stated they were having the same issue with Diff GPUs, Radeon and nVidia GPUs at that. One said his motherboard didnt like his Modded GPU vBIOS and another stated he needed an updated driver, which is what I replied to ... "What driver are you talking about? Im having the same issue with my GTX690 after upgrading my mobo\cpu to Zenith Extreme\1920x (from CrosshairVII Hero\1700x) on MiniDisplayPort>DisplayPort to my Asus XG32VC. GPU was 100% working when tested on Crosshair VII Hero, but after upgrading I now get a multihued red screen during BIOS splash screen but soon as Windows loads up all is fine, to get into BIOS i need to connect a diff monitor via the DVI port. Could it be a setting in my Zenith Extreme BIOS? I cant imagine it being anything else, I dont even see how a windows driver could effect the BIOS splashscreen, especially since it was working on the Crosshair just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Another weird thing of note, When i first installed the GTX 690 on the Zenith it would get a "GPU BIOS Load" error on post screen, and be stuck there, UNTIL I connected a diff monitor via DVI port, not it boots just fine by itself into Windows, while having that multi reds screen during BIOS Splash screen load. weird right? It benches great, temps are great, etc." Just trying to give as many details as possible, etc to help troubleshoot. Thank you Sajin and anyone else who might know what will fix this issue. Rich

That is the correct vbios for your card. To know if it’s the latest vbios you’ll need to contact evga support. Your red screen issue is most likely caused by your generic adapter/cable you’re using. I’d recommend not using an adapter to convert minidp to dp, and just use a good cable such as this one... https://www.amazon.com/Cl...le-Black/dp/B06XSYZNMTThe gpu bios load error could be caused by the motherboard bios being out of date, so make sure you’re running the latest motherboard bios as well.

ahh ok, ty. my board bios is up to date but its still a bit old\unsupported now i guess, and the adapter worked on my crosshair so i cant imagine its bad but ill try a direct cable mini-dp > dp. I contacted tech support so now just the waiting gamr, thx again for the input!
