So I do a little animation work for videos using Apple Motion on a Mac.  I love it because it is relatively powerful for what I need and it's cost to purchase is about the same as one month of Adobe After Effects (I loathe subscription based software).  I was wondering if anyone has used an affordable, non-subscription based piece of software for animation in videos (think intros/transitions, etc.) on a PC and could make a suggestion.  Many thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it'll be powerful enough for your needs, but DaVinci Resolve has a module called Fusion that's similar to After Effects. I haven't used it personally, but I think it's free and included in the Resolve download. I have a student discount for the Adobe Suite so I'm currently paying for that. Like you though, I loathe subscription services so I'm sure I'll look for an alternative when my discount falls off.
