I believe they stated they will cover you. Maybe that means you will be in line for the 4060 when it releases lol

If it was discontinued by the time your up, which is just a far out there notion but ok ill play, They would email you or DM your evga account, tell you the situation and give you a couple choices to move to and give you the pricing for those choices. So if it was a 3080 that went disc, they get in touch and say the new lines are all supers now, lets say like the 2xxx line did, so we are giving you the one time option to move to the 3080 super or the 3070 super, heres the altered pricing , please pick within 48 hours....or whatever time allotment. They would never say oh well your sunk have a nice day, lol. EVGA's customer service is about as good as you could hope for a company in general, but from a tech company its a bit better.

I was wondering this myself. I've been in queue for a step up 3080 since November... Kinda hoping they do discontinue the 3080 before i come up since id rather spend the extra for the Ti.

I was wondering this myself. I've been in queue for a step up 3080 since November... Kinda hoping they do discontinue the 3080 before i come up since id rather spend the extra for the Ti.
It would be very unlikely that they stop making 3080, they are supposed to be both on the line up of Nvidia's cards. What could replace 3080 would be 3080 Super, if they do a refresh like they did on previous generation of cards.

With how long people have been in que for a 3080 if you just got in que now if stock doesn't improve its not out of thr realm to think you may still be in que come 2022 40 series launch lol. The notification que is literally at September/22/2020 so if step up is any slower making it to 2022 September is not crazy

Agree....I think they change the whole procedure, before we get to the end of the September 2020 list, the 4000 ti series will be released. The question is what EVGA will propose and at what price.

I personally would hope that they would send an email out to people to join the comparable queue for the next closest card. That way the queue isn’t waiting 8 hours for someone who isn’t interested anymore. In general it might be good to send out an email that gives a few days to see if people are still interested in remaining in the queue every couple months. It could knock off some bots that won’t respond or people who already have bought cards.

Instead, I think that, unfortunately, this is not the solution as with the current shortage everyone (including those who already own a gpu) would buy it even just to resell it and earn a little something...especially if paid at a list price without increases. The solution, in my opinion, would be to stop (as much as due and according to their calculations) the distribution for the various third-party stores, complete all the internal lists (where possible also based on the sku of the product) and then resume external distribution.

I would also add that sending people on the list for the 3080 from September 2020 after the people who have been on the list for a few days for the 3080ti would be a very bad move for the customer. At most they could do the opposite, put people on the list since September for 3080 on top of that of the 3080ti. Or, if you no longer produce 3080 because it is not convenient, you send me a summary email and you propose certain video cards and give me an additional price range to favor the purchase since 9 months have passed.
