I have three I keep for Spares, I had 4 but one died, EVGA replaced it with a X299, And Gave it the lifetime warranty as the Old one had it; But a Lightning strike took out the Ethernet ports, so I added a card. EVGA, lifetime warranty doesn't cover Fire, Floods, or Lightning. Thew X58 is still a fine system.

I got a x58 passed down, still a competitive MB? Or worth keeping as spare and getting upgrade?

x58 works fine still but isn't competitive, newer platforms available these days are much faster.

Still using mine!  Just passed the 12-year mark.  Still have the lifetime warranty with EAR.  Every time I think about upgrading, I realize the risk vs reward just isn't worth it for me.  And at this point, having had it so long, getting rid of it would feel like losing a family member.

Prior to the X58, waiting longer than 18 months to upgrade a motherboard felt long to me.

I have 3 I still use; xeon 6 core for light gaming at the TV, i7 980 for occasional LAN games and a 3rd I use when I'm at my parents house. the last one is only an i7 930 on an EVGA 121-BL-E756 X58 SLi Micro rev 1.0. I'm actually here trying to figure out definitively whether I can run hex core Xeons on it with just the 83 BIOS update, the accounts seem to differ.

The platform is still remarkably capable, I'm still able to run everything well. Only the 930 is truly showing its age, my average FPS in Tarkov went up from 26 to 52 with an OC from 2.8 to 3.3GHz. I was multitasking as well so that's not too shabby.

how much RAM are you guys running on your X58 rigs? my EVGA has 24GB but has started to only detect 16GB unfortunately

I'm running 12 gigs of G.Skill 1600 MHz CL 9 RAM (6 sticks, 2 gigs each).  I've had to RMA one or more of my RAM sticks 3 times over the past 12 years.  Thankfully my RAM also has a lifetime warranty.

    Cheers!
yeah I started off with 6gb then bought 24gb of mediocre 800MHz ram that came out of old office PCs. I just noticed the PC is now only showing 8gb, better investigate. some retailers are still selling DDR3 RAM but at a premium.

I also still have my X58 card in use, I'm really happy with it, I have only one and hope it lasts forever, but I can no longer find the right vers. of the overclocking software EVGA E-LEET 1.02.8,
can I use one of the others?
    ..
I have since just tried the E-leet X 0.08.2, at the bottom of the page it says otherwise it should be able to be used with the X58 system, but it writes itself, it is not usable on this system ...What to do

I was still using it as a secondary computer, but my wife needed my "newer" X99 for her job for some time, so it's become my main PC again.
I've renewed my watercooling fluid last week-end and updated what I could / clean up Windows.
I only have e-leet that doesn't work on it anymore, and no way of finding a working version sadly ...

About 11 years of service and still very relevant, as I had a 980X and 12GB of RAM on it.
I'd probably suffer a bit on gaming for some games though (GTX580 SC)

My only concern now is that I'm trying to build a new ryzen based computer, and it's really a shame there is no EVGA motherboard ... I'm not really satisfied with the Asus/GB motherboards (about the only brands available here), and of course no way of having a 10 year warranty on these :/

EVGA doesn't make any AMD motherboards or AMD GPUs at this time. I am using the ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero wifi motherboard and it has been an excellent motherboard. There are also other manufacturers out there such as ASRock.

I am running an X58 computer still (as my secondary PC) with the following specs:

    Evga X58 Classified (E760)
    Intel Xeon W3690 (3733Mhz)

    Corsair Dominator Platinum 24GB DDR3 (1600Mhz / 7-8-8-24 / 1.5V)
    Corsair H100 AIO Cooler (CWCH100)
    Corsair AX 860 (860W PSU)

    SATA Drives:

Samsung 840 PRO SSD 256 GB (Windows 10 Pro)
Samsung 840 EVO SSD 1000 GB (Games)
4x Seagate Barracuda ES3 HDD 2000 GB (Storage)

    PCIe Cards:

Evga GeForce GTX Titan X SC + Hybrid AIO Cooler (400-HY-0990-B1)
    Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (HP 6VF53AA)
    Asus USB 3.1 (2x Type-A 10Gbps)

It's had a few upgrades as you can see (PSU / SSD's / PCIe cards)
but the other components are over 10 years old.

And it is still working perfectly fine after all this time.

I am mostly surprised by the 4x Seagate HDD's and the Corsair H100 AIO cooler
as i thought for sure they would not last this long (with nearly 24/7 usage).

I still have and use my X-58 Classified 3....mostly for browsing the internet and watching Utube vids.  Its a remarkable EATX MB....built like a tank....and a great testament to EVGAs designs from 10+ yrs ago....this build I will keep as a "classic".   Will build a new "small" box for Win 11.   Tech moves too quick to spend $ on anything other than a "small" box.

I still have 2 SuperMicro dual socket 1366 with x5660 CPUs.
I fire them up for a BOINC challenge/sprint or if I need some extra heat in the Winter.
Sold my Classified3, FTW3 and Asus Rampage boards.

    Hello everyone.
I'm new to the forum, my name is Kevin, and well I'm from Spain, first of all, forgive my English, it's not very good hehe.
I am passionate about the x58 platform, over time I have had several, currently I keep a Gigabyte UD9, a Rampage Extreme III, about to acquire a Rampage Extreme III Black Edition, and owner of a dual socket Evga SR2.
The truth is that with the latter I am suffering a lot, because I have to replace the CPU sockets and today, I do not know who can do it or if EVGA can do it paying me the costs, I would not mind because it is a board to which I have enough affection, perhaps more than any other, I do not lose hope haha.
I still have here a couple of water blocks of the Rampage III, and I'm still looking for the UD9 etc, everything in its time comes, without a doubt it seems to me the best platform ever built, at the level of robustness of the top boards etc.
Greetings to all, soon I will upload some pictures, because I don't have much time either ^^.

EVGA doesn't do repairs like that unfortunately.

My parents are still using an X58 based system as it’s fast enough for email for them. I might upgrade them to a new system though since I have a i7 7700k system I am using but it would take replacing their case.

My parents are still using an X58 based system as it’s fast enough for email for them. I might upgrade them to a new system though since I have a i7 7700k system I am using but it would take replacing their case.

That shouldn't be an issue. You can find great PC cases for under 100 dollars.

https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/2022-x58-1366-pin-motherboards-nvme-m-2-ssd-bios-mod-collection/92367 add nvme support to your legacy bios x58 motherboard.

Excellent info to continue adding support to an old platform.

The vanilla EVGA X58 motherboard was one of the worst motherboards I have owned. I am so glad it was retired so long ago.
