I am wondering if you still have to hurry with your check out process when you successfully managed to add a card in your basket? Is this card be reserved for you for at least a few minutes or do risk that the item get sold out to someone else while you are entering your credit card information? 

Usually most online retailers require u to complete the checkout process and dont secure the item if you only put it in ur basket. Would love to hear a confirmation on what I said tho cuz im not sure if its the same with EVGA.

Surely buy as fast as possible. I would also like to know about direct link if anyone can explain in detail.

 
Having an item in the cart does not guarantee you anything if there is a lot of traffic which it will without a doubt, so it's basically first come-first served. If you manage to get the item is in your basket and the item gets sold out then you're technically robbed of that product lol.

Some sights have a reservation timer that generally last on the order of 5 minutes.  But there are many that do not implement this feature.  Personally I wish it was ubiquitous…
That said, the probability of even getting that card into your cart during the initial launch is painfully low due to bots.  Most websites go instantly to out of stock (counting in milliseconds). The good news (sort of) is that at least on this website (evga.com) you are more likely to end up in the queue.  When it is eventually your turn (which could be several months in the future) their queue system gives you an 8 hour window.

There are so many mechanisms they could use to curb the scalpers and uberminers. But it's not losing any money to maintain the status quo.

No, not usually best buy is apparently an exception, and here on evga you only purchase cards via the auto notify queue system. Once you're next up in the queue you get 8 hours and an email to complete the purchase before the product is released back to the queue. Here is some advice do not try to do any transaction that is time sensitive on amazon, because I have gotten around 60 cards in my cart and I can never ever get the purchase complete in time it's one of the most frustrating things it the world.

When buying from the EVGA site, all GPUs are sold through the notify queue system, so you don't have to worry about how fast you can enter CC details and such.
For other sites that may be a concern however, and adding to cart doesn't normally reserve anything.

Yeah on most sites I wouldn't wait around during a purchase with the card sitting in your cart

I wouldn't risk it personally.

My general rule is to check out as fast as humanly possible once I get something added to my cart. Even then it’s not a guarantee.
