Like the title says, talk about your favorite game or games from after the fall of Civilization! Fallout, Metro, Wasteland, STALKER...whatver strikes your fancy, tell us which ones you like and why, if you like!
Personally I love the whole Fallout series, but Fallout 3 has a special place in my heart. The sheer devastation of the Capitol, the bleakness of it all was awesome to me. It was my first Fallout game, and it may not be perfect, but I love it. It sold me on the series, and inspired me to play 1, 2, and Tactics, not just New Vegas and 4 when they came out.

Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best roleplaying games in this post apocalyptical scenario , immersive storyline and lore, beautiful open worlds and I love the mix of advanced technology with primitive humanity. A must play !

I've played almost all the Fallout games but I never really got seriously into them, most I didn't even finish. Now I decided to play them for real, in order. Finished Fallout 1 and I really enjoyed! The start is a bit slow and a bit boring (combat can be super hard or super long if you don't have the right skills) but if you keep going it gets much better. Now I have to play the second one, not sure if I'm supposed to play Tactics too (is it canon?). Other than that, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro are great too!

Fallout is a little too easy a pick. I think I'll go with 7D2D. The graphics are last century, but the mechanics are solid.

Been meaning to play STALKER. Friends of mine love it. I played the first metro game, it was really fun.

Metro series does give you the impression of an apocalypse.
Neo Scavanger is more obscure I feel more applicable, although more focused on survival than anything.
I swear I knew game that I feel better encapsulates the idea of being in a post-apocalypse but I can't remember which game it was.

I would agree that Horizon Zero Dawn was a good game if you want post apocalypse. I liked the art style of the game but really didn't expect the storyline to be so solid.

Totally counts! Almost any Zombie game could be considered an Apocalyptic/ Post-Apocalyptic. I would count Left 4 Dead, as well. I have to check out Horizon Zero Dawn. Sounds pretty cool.

Could have swore the devs behind it were working on something new. As for the topic, Metro has been the only post-apocalyptic game I have played but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's sort of dependent on the server you pick and if you like base building and crafting.

I also like State of Decay...the idea of gathering ressources and building up a base is great. Even if the controlls are not that good.

The story starts later in Wasteland 2. What I like about the series is the setting and gameplay as it is very reminiscent of Fallout 2, with the different skills, lap-based skills and the possibilities based on the respective builds. However, if you don't get characters and possibly story-wise, that won't change in the later course of the game. In that respect it's just a matter of taste.

I think this one borders post-apocalyptic but I really, really enjoy The Division 2 landscape. I guess it's like mid-apocalypse since it's an ongoing thing. If we want to go full apocalypse, Metro & The Last of Us are probably the top 2 for me.

Metro comes in pretty close. All the weapons in that game were all designed based on real world parts

I consider Horizon Zero Dawn to be one of the best games of the previous generation, and as mentioned by others, it fits perfectly into this category. I don't know how the sequel is going to beat it in terms of story, but they just released a new state of play video and it looks incredible.
