I don't know about PES but FIFA is riddled with microtransactions and their games are mostly the same every year. And they still make billions from those!
AAA sports games in general are like that nowadays.

Like they did with the loot boxes in star wars. I thougt they had to adjust that system drom Europe because you were paying but you were not sure what you would receive

PES used to have better physics and customization than FIFA, but the lack of licensed content was their Achilles heel. I'm not sure how it was post 2010 since I haven't played that point on but it seems they could never catch up with FIFA

PES if you want a football like feel and fifa is like an arcade game, great character details but not the actual feel of soccer

At least the community said no, the media picked it up, Disney probably got mad and EA changed it. FIFA? Eh, seems like not enough people care. Sports games in general seem like people are fine with the way they are and don't mind spending money trying to get the players they want.

I stoped playing fifa after it started to become scripted and old school fifa was more fun playing with friends

Haven't played FIFA since maybe 2016 version? Favorite FIFA has to be FIFA '99 on N64 and FIFA 2002. I actually tried playing FIFA '21 last night with Xbox Pass or whatever it's called, only to find that I had to download an EA game loader and STILL pay another monthly fee to play their games! lol. Yeah no.. uninstalled.

I love PES 2010 and that's it. The game got bad after that. But FIFA is like a microtransactions-riddled mess. Everywhere you go, they want u to buy. Come on EA like what the hell.

Do not like FIFA, but something just doesn't feel right playing PES, plus the recent versions added the whole "My Team/Ultimate Team" microtransaction junk like FIFA.

Personally, sports games have gone down the drain. Same crap every year. I would suggest FIFA if we were talking 10+ years ago though lol.

Have to go with FIFA, might be because I've been playing FIFA since 2013, but PES feels like a cheap alternative to FIFA. No matter how much I tried PES over the years, it always felt like it faltered compared to the feel that FIFA had. Even though FIFA is a heavy copy and paste every year, it still feels better than PES. I don't deal with Ultimate Team anyways so I don't really worry about microtransactions, but it is still a major issue

People always say how realistic PES is but I think they are mostly full of it. There are so many little things like animations and goalkeepers and ball physics such that just completely remove any realism from PES. Is FIFA realistic? no, its very much a video game and feels like one, but its surely more fun than PES and I think that is what matters most in this case. It is absolutely riddled with MTX in the ultimate team mode though and since that makes all the money the other modes get completely neglected for years on end. But PES doesn't really push the envelop with career mode and such either.
