Hello,
 
I was able to get an RTX 3060 from the queue and plan to Step Up to the 3090 FTW3. I want to purchase extended warranty for the 3090, given how many people have reported issues with it. My question is, the extended warranty cost for the 3060 is $40 but for the 3090 it will be $60. If I purchase the extended warranty now, and when I do the Step Up, will I be asked to pay $20 more? Or should I just wait until I pay for the Step Up, and will I be able to purchase the extended warranty then (which could be more than 90 days from now)?

No it won't but I just want to know which approach is the right approach. I believe the extended warranty coverage will go with the Step Up product.

Good advice, but how about the effective warranty start date? For original product, the "Days Left" counter would indicate it is dated back to the invoice date.
 
Scenario 1:
Suppose I purchased the original product on 1/1, purchased 10-year extended warranty on 2/1. The "Warranty Start On" would say 2/1, but on 2/1 "Days Left" would only say ~3621 days, which is 10 year (3652 days) minus 31 days from 1/1 to 2/1.
 
Now suppose if I joined the step-up on 2/1 and the step up product is received on 3/1. The extended warranty would transfer to the step up product, but what is the effective 10-year warranty start date, original purchase date (1/1), original extended warranty purchase date (2/1) or the step up product delivery date (3/1)?
 
Scenario 2:
If I purchased the original product on 1/1, but this time I decided not to purchase extended warranty for the original product. On 2/1 I joined the step-up and received the step up product on 3/1. I decided to purchase the extended warranty for the step up product on 3/15. What is the effective 10-year warranty start date in this scenario? Is it original purchase date (1/1), step up delivery date (3/1) or step up extended warranty purchase date (3/15)?

I purchased the extended warranty. From what I can gather, the extended warranty starts on the date of purchase/invoice date. So in either scenario, I am quite sure that the warranty will start on 1/1 regardless when you purchase the extended warranty. It basically "extends" the original warranty to however long the warranty plan that you purchased.

Thanks for chiming in, but which product did you purchase the extended warranty for, the original product or the step up product?
 
I understand back date for original product, but it seems unfair to back date to the original invoice date for the step up product. Suppose I receive the step up product 1 years later (e.g. 3080 FTW3), so now I only get 9-year warranty for the 3080 instead of 10?

I purchased the extended warranty for the 3060 and then did the Step Up. Fair or not, I am pretty sure that is how it works, because when you get the Step Up product, in my case the 3090, the warranty still starts on the date that you made the original purchase (3060). I don't think the warranty resets when you do the Step Up.

I bought the 2080 back in sept for the stepup and got the extended warranty... it adds on to the regular manufacturer warranty.

Meaning the extended warranty doesn’t overlap the standard warranty..... it extends it, as it should .

The original warranty is 3 years, if you buy the extended warranty for 10 years, you get 10 years. You don't get 13 years.
 
Also, the question is, when does the extended warranty start. I am pretty sure it starts on the date of the original purchase.

Gives you all the answers ... the extended warranty adds 2 years and 7 years to the warranty and from the info it extends to the 3060 as well .

I recently completed my step up to the 3090.  On my original 3070 I bought back in January I didn't purchase the warranty as I was thinking I was going to sell the card when I got a Kingpin.  Reality hit me when the wait for the Kingpin grew so my name came up in the 3090 queue which I decided I wanted to purchase through the step up.  Went through the steps and once the card was shown as shipped, I purchased the 10 year warranty on the card which took affect the day I paid for the extended warranty.  I hadn't even had the card in my hand, but when EVGA sends a card out they scan the serial number in and it shows under your products page.  So for me, the 10 year warranty I paid 60 bucks for started the day I paid for it, which was after my payment for the step up was processed.

You are also using the original product as well, so you should lose the warranty for the amount of time you utilized the original product.

They just shipped my 3080 yesterday. EVGA auto registered it for me, It says "Warranty 1095 days left".
That is a full 3 years of warranty even though I had the old 2080super 9 months.
 
Never mind I see the extended warranty is what you guys meant. 
I would think the extended warranty starts after the original warranty ends so it should still start after the original ends even with a step-up. If they reset the start date, should reset the end date.

If one does not purchase extended warranty for the original product, the extended warranty for the step-up product is effective the date it is shipped.
 
The other question remains unanswered. What if one purchase the extended warranty for the original product and have it transferred to the step-up product? Would the extended warranty be effective the original invoice date or the shipping date of the step-up product?

Can you confirm the "Days Left" in Warranty Information section once your step-up 3090 is shipped? Does it reset to 3652 days (10 years) or remain unchanged?

You guys realize i posted the link for the answer that's directly from evga.. its a 2/7 year extension of the pre-existing manufacturers wararnty... which gives you 5/10 year warranty its extends the warranty that comes from card when ya register it
 
and last question.. the warranty transfers over to steup card. nothing changes

So to update this thread, the 3090 Step Up has arrived. It is a brand new sealed 3090 FTW 3 Ultra. The 10-year warranty has been automatically transferred but also reset, meaning instead of the warranty from 5/15/2021 to 5/15/2031 that I bought for the 3060, the warranty on the 3090 will be from 6/16/2021 to 6/16/2031. That in itself is amazing. This is why I love EVGA and will continue to buy from them.
 
Step 1: May 14, 2021
Step 2: June 7, 2021
Step 3: June 7, 2021
Step 4: June 8, 2021
Step 5: June 8, 2021
 
I shipped on June 11 because I was busy. It was delivered on June 14. I never opened the 3060 so the Step Up verification was pretty quick and it was shipped out on June 16 to me. I received it today on June 18.
