Anyway, I walked in...
Then I notice a 6900 XT, and right next to it a brand new in box EVGA RTX 3080. I grabbed it so freaking fast as I shouted out loud, "OMG you guys actually have a 3080?!"...

I keep forgetting to check the local small PC shop... But they're probably charging ridiculous prices too. The place is strange, it's run by a farmer co-op or some such. Strange inventory, strange prices. And if you're not from that particular town no one likes you.

If you compare every price to a FE card from Best Buy, then sure it looks like a scalp. Microcenter is not scalping. There MSRP prices have raised with Tarriffs etc. However they are nowhere near scalp prices. When I camped out and got my 3080 Rog Strix it was the same price as Best Buy $1099. If they truly were scalping you would not see 50 people line up at the but crack of dawn every morning (and day before) to get a video card. Also 30 day wait in between buying video cards and you are ID'd with address recorded. No one else does that.

It should be for gaming only not mining and scalping. Sad once mining tanks the market is gonna be flooded with video cards.

Of course they exist. The inflated prices keep regular costumers away and miners do not always check more obscure retail outlets, where they stay due to the massively inflated prices.

I know my Nvidia FE 3080 is a thing of beauty to hold & marvel at. When I got it, I was literally like an 8 yr old schoolgirl when I opened it up and held it, and looked it over.  ..Grinning from ear to ear
Seems unlikely to be able to mark up prices after procuring any cards from EBAY scalpers...

My mom and pops shop had their GPU orders canceled by their suppliers. Plus they said they supplier is doing the crazy pricing so they have to sell high to cover profit. They stopped in early 2021 selling gpus.
