It's interesting, but too bad it is not economically viable. A NASA payload specialist said that costs to orbit increased when they started using SpaceX. Even worse, SpaceX was supposed to decrease in cost over time due to reusability, but instead has increased in cost over time. For comparison, 25 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ujGv9AjDp4&t=1275s SpaceX wasn't transparent about the cost to inspect, repair, and reuse the rocket parts. They have been unable to deliver on many of their claims. We were supposed to have a SpaceX lander on Mars by now, but instead, we are getting some landing successfully on earth. I hope that their government contract will come under investigation. There are a lot of government spending investigations going on right now, and I hope SpaceX will receive some of that heat. It's really been a waste of a lot of money so far, and has used false claims to win contracts and take money away from some promising competition. SpaceX: BUSTED!! Ya it's funny how boring REALLY HARD STUFF is when they keep doing it very well. It's going to be interesting to see the first starship on the moon (since looks like that will happen before Mars)

^This. The way that Musk runs his companies is always on promises of future affordability from scale-out, but it never seems to fully come to fruition. Tesla is mostly there, but the shingle project and the battery factory are both majorly behind. The Model 3 is released, but there's endless complains about build quality that have existed since the Model S. Don't even get me started on the right to repair fight. When I was in high school, reading about the Roadster blew my mind and I fanboyed hard for the company and for Musk. In the past few years, though, he's gone pretty off the rails in his executive position (not even touching his general behavior as a person) and even board members are trying to get him ousted or at least dialed back. I've gone from lusting after owning a Tesla, to planning to buy a Model S, to being hesitant to touch the company with a 10-foot pole. More and more people are seeing the hype die. Hopefully that means Musk will get his crap together or let someone more realistic/reasonable run things.

It's awesome that we got to see all the failures that lead to this as well. It's been a thrilling journey so far!

Eh, I'm not going to overthink it. Starlink and private investors like the Japanese Hello Moon guy will pay for the development cost of most of Starship. NASA contracts are just icing on the cake at this point. Those that don't believe in Starship, that's ok too. Just sit back and enjoy the fireworks.

Its a start, everything is expensive and difficult in the start but it might be mainstream in the future due to these efforts only, go team Elon !

No. NASA's payload specialist said that their costs with SpaceX increased above what NASA was doing. See post #4.
