Konami has pulled out of E3 2021 - A "Number of Key Projects" are in the works | OC3D News (overclock3d.net) On Twitter, Konami has confirmed that they have pulled out of E3 2021, stating that they will "not be ready" to showcase their latest games at the event. The publisher confirmed that they have "a number of key projects" in "deep development" but didn't detail what any of these projects were. After the departure of Hideo Kojima in 2015, following the launch of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami has largely steered away from AAA game development. However, the recent launch of Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 appears to have revitalised Konami's gaming efforts. Konami has stated that they will deliver"updates" on their gaming plans "in the coming months". Konami has not detailed any of their new projects but has confirmed that they are "Taking PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) to a Whole New Level" back in 2020. It is also rumoured that Konami has Metal Gear Solid remakes in the works, which could take a Resident Evil 2 style approach to recreating the series. Looks to me as though Konami simple isn't ready yet to showcase any of their upcoming games.

Konami hasn't done much of note since losing Kojima/MGS, and the whole Silent Hills / P.T. fiasco. Hopefully some of their dormant franchises get some love.

With everything going digital in this current global state, I guess it's just a good excuse for companies to release/stream a presentation. Was looking forward to MGS news tho, so this is a bummer..

Does anyone knows if they plan to release eFootbal 2022 this year? The eFootball Season 2021 is on sale in Steam, and I am planning to buy it.

A Bluepoint created MGS remake is still at the top of my wish list.

I agree with a contra remake and I am looking forward to "good" metal gears. Unfortunately most good series have been suffering from lack of innovation in recent years

Bleh letting go of Kojima-san esp. given the low price tag of MGSV compared to other AAA titles was ridiculous. They complained about how expensive it was but I think it may have been $20-40 million cheaper than some other AAA games. It saddens me too because aside from Miyamoto-san none of the old masters are left at the old companies, be they Yuji Naka, Yu Suzuki, Tetsuya Mizuguchi or Hironobu Sakaguchi.

RyanKungl They should do a contra remake.
I would be for this if it was done as a side scroller but without so much neon colors on screen that it gets to be too much. Contra Wars the top down shooter didn’t work.

I haven't been as interested in E3 over the past few years.
Fingers crossed for a Silent Hill reboot.

I'm a Castlevania fan. I'm surprised that Konami didn't try to capitalize on the Netflix adaptation's popularity. If they did, I guess I'm not aware.

Honestly, the only thing I can think of them doing with their IPs that I'd care about is producing Suikoden VI. Admittedly though, they did used to produce quite a few games. Rarely ones I was terribly interested in, but still.
