Curious to hear what others are using to game on if anyone is using a larger TV for their pc gaming.  I'm on an older 1080p tv at the moment, but looking to pick up an lg C1 oled this year....maybe the 77 inch. Looking to see what mini led options come out this year as well with local dimming zones if the price is right like the TCL models of the last couple years.

a lot of TVs come with FreeSync built into them now and some have Gsync.  I usually play on my TV over steamlink, works great because most smart TVs also have a built in steam link app. You can even connect your wireless controllers directly to your TV now.

Does the steam link app let you do 4k? 4k 120? I have the hardware steam link and I think it's only 1080p?

It sounds like you're asking about PC gaming on 4K TVs rather than physically large displays. The point mentioned already about Variable Rate Refresh is relevant as you won't reach 4k @ 120fps in some games at Ultra and/or RT enabled, so VRR (which the C1 has) will help maintain nice smooth graphic framerates.

You'd really want a gaming PC connected directly to your TV that can handle 4K, ideally with VRR support (GSync/Freesync), maybe HDR 10-bit support too, along with the suitable spec cable (i.e. not just snake-oil expensive cables, but like HDMI 2.0 for high bandwidth of 4K120 instead of a gimpy HDMI 1.0a or something)

I recently bought a 75" Sony X900H to dual purpose as a home theater TV and couch co-op gaming display for both consoles and PC. There's promises up and down from Sony that VRR will be implemented, but it keeps getting delayed. If you're fine waiting for VRR or just running at a static 60 or 120 Hz, I definitely recommend it. I haven't gamed on it yet, but streaming content to it is beautiful. It also has great ratings for local dimming and input lag/latency, which is what I assume you're prioritizing as a gaming display. Best of all, it's significantly cheaper than a lot of the competition: the 75" is on sale right now for $1599 (or $1569 if you can buy from Costco) compared to around $2200 for the Samsung Q90T or $3800 for the LG C1. The upgraded X950H trades specs back and forth, in that it has better viewing angles and HDR capability, but loses on contrast and input lag.

Yes you can but you must use quality HDMI 2.1, Display port

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Thanks! I'd love to find a 32 inch 4k tv as a monitor replacement that has HDMI 2.1, but I know that's like asking for a unicorn that rides on a rainbow

HDMI 2.1 are becoming the norm on most TVs just look at the specs.

Yeah there are either small monitors or large tv's, the in between range is few and far between.  The TV's even at 55" are pretty reasonable, a good large 4k monitor (like the new ASUS) cost a ton of money (and doesn't even have hdmi 2.1) I'm hopeful as a monitor the new smaller OLED's (42" coming this year) will fit that in between spot.  Although I plan on getting a large secondary tv for gaming on my computer from the couch.

Why do you need HDMI 2.1 when they have DP1.4 running directly through a G-Sync Ultimate controller? There are alternatives to the ASUS and Acer 32" monitors if you're willing to compromise on HDR ratings, in exchange for HDMI 2.1 and Freesync/G-Sync compatible VRR certification.

The biggest issue when it comes to 32-43" 4K monitors is that there aren't that many panels being made. They're a PC gaming niche, whereas for $400-600 you can easily grab a bargain brand 55" 4K TV. That where all the panel makers are making the most revenue, and run way more production to meet demand. Economy of scales and all that.

You are right, 2.1 isn't essential on the ASUS if it has displayport, but for the $3,000 price point, it seems like it should have it and if you are connecting a non-pc up to it, hdmi 2.1 is the more relevant standard.  You are correct too that the 32-43" space is pretty much a no mans land between pc monitor and TV.

Sort-of, you can make it work but it won't be the same. Response time and text sharpness may not be good.

I have had a decent time sim racing on TCL 43S403. With game mode enabled it can extrapolate to exceed 60 frames at 4K. Color is pretty good and no really noticeable lag. Been using it for a year now.

Nowadays you can actually play quite well on TVs, only in the area of the frame rates there are bigger differences.
However, since I still like to use a mouse and keyboard, a 40+ inch device in front of my face is quite uncomfortable.

I have an older 60" Plasma TV I use for casual gaming. I'd never use it for anything competitive. I have a long HDMI card that runs through the wall from my computer to the TV. Then a wireless keyboard and controller for single player sightseeing games.

24" is the perfect size. With a 60", you have to move your head to see the corners.

For competitive gaming you're right. For casual gaming why not play on a 60" while sitting on the couch?

i suppose if you have a nice 4k 120hz OLED 48+ inch TV in your living room, it may be a good idea to build a silent gaming computer connected with 4 xbox controllers and just use it as a console. no CSGOing, but can do anything else just fine

I use to game on a 40inch RCA back in the day was not the best expectance especially with the tearing using an RX 480 and that was a 1080p display with HDMI but that was probably 8 years ago with my FX 8120 rig. I have a Samsung 4K TV 50in maybe I should try running a few games on that to see how it works. Will update with future results.

That's a massive upgrade from a 1080p. Going straight for the best wow.
C1 or G1 are both top of the line, even samsung qled can't really compete.
This is of course if money is no object to you.
