ADT-Link specializes in high-speed cable production, including PCIe risers. We were tipped that this Shanghai-based manufacturer has released a 3D model of the RTX 3080 Ti graphics card

Upon checking on the file it appears that it could have originated at NVIDIA, at least the 3D model of the graphics card could. While we can’t be sure, it seems that ADT works with some case manufacturers, who undoubtedly have access to NVIDIA embargoed 3D models. A 3D model that is attached to this post has been published by ADT alongside one of their PCI Gen4 risers.
In the ZIP package, a file named “R3335W-BK+3080ti 20210102.step” can be found. The date indicates that the design was finalized in January, which shouldn’t really be surprising considering this SKU has been on a roadmap since late December.

Molex 12pin Micro-Fit 3.0 power cable connector in a different place?

The first thing that can be noticed is NVIDIA’s new 12-pin power connector located on a different side. Assuming that this is indeed going to happen, then NVIDIA no longer needs to cut a hole for the connector as it does for RTX 3090/3080 designs. This also means that the connector would be attached through a cable rather than mounted on the PCB itself.

Wait, is this USB Type-C?
Another interesting discovery is the USB Type-C connector located right above the HDMI 2.1 connector. At the launch of the GeForce RTX 30 series, it became clear that NVIDIA has abandoned its VirtualLink connector – none of the new Ampere cards had any. The VirtualLink was a big selling point at RTX 20 “Turing” release, but due to poor adoption of USB displays, NVIDIA decided to scrap it. Two months after NVIDIA introduced its RTX 30 series, AMD announced that their Radeon RX 6000 series will all be equipped with a USB Type-C connector. This connector is now exclusive to AMD reference and some premium designs based on RDNA2 architecture. It is nowhere near a full market adoption.
