If you’re on a budget: APC UPS, 1500VA UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protection.

APC UPS, 1500VA UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protection.

I own a couple of smaller APC units and I was always having little issues..
Batteries needing replacement, doors difficult to deal with...
Prongs not lining up properly to battery pack..
I still use them but i needed something bigger
Trying Cyberpower...so far so good

Since installing the 4 Cyberpowers, other than a Windows update, I have not had a single surprise reset..
Thanks Everyone!

Power Company must of got word I had UPS's cause they made me put em to work..
Power went out and as I was thinking about pulling out the generator(it was raining so the sump needs to keep going) I figured I would use the Cyberpowers...ran an extension from the cyberpowers to the pump..That lasted me about 3+hrs probably longer and as I was just setting up the generator..the power came back on...SMH...lol
Just bought this..It is exactly what I need ..add as many batteries as I need..It is UPS between the sump pump and the ac outlet with as much backup capacity based on how many batteries you hook up. The pump pulls 450 watts for about 6 seconds or less and about every 5-7minutes depending on  how bad it is raining..
Couldn't find anything else this simple

I'm glad it worked for you Joe, a little pricey [I'm cheap ;P]. Certainly cheaper than a basement refinish. Our house came with a battery back up sump pump, it's a Simer brand with charge controller/inverter on top of battery box. Don't think ours has a secondary pump, runs of main pump. I should probably look at replacing the battery, been good since 2005.....  I actually like your product a bit more.

Hi Gene
I have replaced the pump a couple times till I realized the check valve was stuck open. I had a couple of RV generators but I took them back after a year..one needed a repair under warranty..only used one summer and repair was shoddy. Costco refunded everything.
I have a diesel generator but it is awkward to set up.
The rain and power outage was a good thing.
The setup will use the pump sentry like a ups for the computer.
It will take me a few days to setup.
Going to start with a couple of deep cycle batteries and test them out during a rain storm...hopefully the power doesn't go out...maybe test just one battery and have the other just sitting there during testing...good Idea Joe!..glad I thought about it while i was responding to you..lol

Recommend you research  venting a battery box depending on your choice of batteries Joe. Some can out-gas some harmful fumes. Not much more than a plywood box with 2 tubes to the exterior  is needed. Some even put a spare 12 volt pc fan to help the process. We would NOT want to see a good friend find out the hard way. Hope you are feeling well brother.

And I was going to enclose them in plastic battery boxes...
Marine..deep cycle...was what I was going to buy...
The pump is outside in a concrete sump and the area I was going to use for the pump sentry is NOT insulated and enclosed under the back deck.
Should I add a ventilation fan to the area?
Tell me more..

Hydrogen released from charging batteries can be explosive ... I'd be very careful about venting a battery box with a common fan.  Creating positive pressure into the box would be best; however, hydrogen is lighter than air ... so I'd get a rated fan for that type of use

a sealed battery (no vent) is the only - battery that will not give off some hydrogen gas & acidic fumes while charging - that I'm aware of

there is a LEL (lower limit) 4% & an UEL (upper limit) 75% - for "explosive mix of hydrogen & air" ... however basically hydrogen is always flammable if air is present

I was involved with an industrial process - where we used hydrogen to purge the air out of the product during the manufacturing in process

Sounds exciting..
I worked in an industry that looked for leaks by waving a corn broom around..you know when you found any...the broom head disappeared or it might burst into flames...
Pulp mills are so loud you can't hear anything but background...
Trained a couple days of the week at Saint John Pulp and Paper back in the late 70's...they sold Electricity back to the Hydro Co.
High pressure superheated steam...Between 2000psi and 600psi depending on whether it is going in or out of the turbine...lol
Temperature? Who cares..you either get cut in half, burst into flames, melt...or maybe a little of each..
One of the by-products of pulp was used to feed the Giant boilers..they were multi story buildings with big spray nozzles feeding the by product into the giant furnace. I think they used oil to ignite the furnace and get it hot enough to inject the by-product.
This by-product was explosive if mixed with water...
Steam is created from...Water!
If water was leaking and not steam...Use your imagination..HERE!

This is watt I moved too.  Amazon.com: CyberPower PR1500LCD Smart App Sinewave UPS System, 1500VA/1500W, 8 Outlets, AVR, Mini-Tower, Black: Home Audio & Theater

Hi Guys
I think I need a couple of larger UPS's. I have been trying to compare Scott's to the ones I already have...CP1500PFCLCD.
How important is Active PFC power source compatibility?
The CP1500PFCLCD has it and so does the PR1500LCD.....
So I am thinking it should be ok .
It is also 1500Watts so that should give me a better margin on my 1000W+draw.
Just shopping now and I could order any minute...lol
Yes...No...?

I might still be able to cancel it if need be...lol

there are units that work with higher 200-240V input -- if you have that Voltage at the outlet

your CP1500PFCLCD  = 1000W ---> MAX load - if your draw exceeds 1000W - look for 1200W or bigger UPS

I've got one of those  CyberPower PR1500LCD Smart App Sinewave UPS & am very happy with the capacity - pulling 1300-1400 Watts on it

(Next time I find them on sale, I'll pickup one or two more)

1500W and features an input voltage range of 75-154 VAC at 47-63 Hz using Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to help correct minor power fluctuations without switching to battery power.
