I had my 1080ti FTW3 in my previous machine for years and had been running it without Precision X because I had run into issues with the software in the past and just let it go as default fan control.
I have recently built a new machine and decided to try out Precision X1 to adjust the LED colors since I now have a case with a tempered glass window.
After adjusting the color to what I wanted, I noticed that it only showed 2 of the 3 fans in Precision X1. I loaded up a game that would get the heat going on the card and noticed that only one of the fans were now spinning up while the 2nd and 3rd fans just sat static. I found
this post which explained to shut down the system, unplug it, hit the power button for 30 seconds, then power it up and boot it and that Precision X1 should now see the third fan. I did not manually install any new firmware for the card or tell Precision X1 to install any new firmware either. After the power down/drain/boot, I could see all three fans in Precision X1 and get them all to spin up. I switched it to auto and saved it. Later on I was checking something else in Precision X1 and noticed the only showing 2 fans problem was back.
Again I did the power down/drain/boot sequence and Precision X1 again showed 3 fans. I had it set to "auto" and then applied it. I then uninstalled Precision X1 and told it to remove all settings/etc.
After shut down and restart, I noticed that it, again was running on just one fan. No amount of pushing the card would get the 2nd and 3rd fans to spin up. Reinstalled Precision X1 and now it shows 2 fans again.
So... how do I fix this? How do I put my card back to original factory settings and make all three fans work again consistently? And how do I revert whatever Precision X1 did to my 1080ti so it doesn't kill it with heat? I am in multiple queues to buy a 3080, but until I do, I need this card to not get fried out because of bad software.
