What is "out of band " supposed to mean..?

Microsoft, for example, normally releases patches on the second Tuesday of every month. A patch, sometimes called a "fix," is a quick-repair job for a piece of programming.
Yeah, I've been applying these "optional" updates even though my printer is not a part of the list of effected products with a v3 driver.

- Updates an issue that makes high dynamic range (HDR) screens appear much darker than expected.
- Updates an issue that causes video playback to be out of sync in duplicate mode when you use multiple monitors.
- Updates an issue that displays nothing or shows “Computing Filters” indefinitely when you filter File Explorer search results.

Looks like Windows 20H2 has broken P67/Z77 boards. I've tested a few, all possible combinations and they wil always BSOD randomly, after some Google research it turns out it's a more widespread issue.
SATA SMART errors are going absolutely crazy every second.

Yep something is broke. My friends HP desktop is in a twilight zone kind of refresh loop where her MS account is broken along with OneDrive error messages. When we fix them it won’t save them after signing out or rebooting. On top of that, HP bios settings suck!

Is it just me, or does Microsoft seem to be getting a lot more lax in their patch quality control? I've been reading about the past few months of patches and the problems they have presented, such as blue screens when trying to print, or lower fps in games until the patch is uninstalled.

I've always been nervous with Windows updates. The first time I had to reformat a computer was when a Windows ME update went into an infinite loop. Things like that were so much more complicated before all the guides and Youtube videos.
