Still having issues with RGB and fan profiles resetting at random. Anyone ever find a fix for this?

Every now and then, either Precision or the firmware crashes and resets my RGB to rainbow-puke mode and my fans to default, which used to disable the extension fan but now defaults it to 30%, which is still inefficient for my cooling needs. I can't seem to find any concrete info on this.

Before anyone suggests Afterburner or something similar: I need to be able to control the 4th extension fan.

I have the same issue and I open PX1 only to control the 3rd and ext fan (all the fans, in the end), other than this is Afterburner all the way. What I do when it resets is to open PX1, select again a preset I made, click apply. Then open Afterburner, select back my preferred preset and apply. I made a custom curve to Afterburner fans identically to PX1 fans, this way when I apply the preset Afterburner keeps the same curve of PX1 for the 1st and 2nd fans (which are the only AB can control).
After that just close PX1 and forget it.
Yeah... A pain in the... I know. Thank EVGA for such a crappy software.
Edit: the same applies to the rgb. After applied the desired color scheme, you can close PX1 and it should stay the same.

I've been trying this. But I don't understand how you keep the 4th extension fan running on your custom curve after closing Precision. No matter what I do, the fan profile resets when I close it and Afterburner does nothing with the extension fan.

I'm pretty close to just plugging these fans back into my motherboard. To be honest, it's a dual fan splitter hooked up to a bottom intake and my rear exhaust. Thought it was so clever. Can't ever get it to work the way I imagined it would... They ought to just sync the extension fan with one of the other 3 fans in the firmware so I at least still have decent cooling when it goes wonky. Even if the RGB isn't right. I could care less if it stays properly cooled.

Still have issues with this. Does ANYONE from EVGA even read the forums? Honestly . . .

To anyone at EVGA actually reading these and working on fixes, I have identified a constant when the RGB and fan profile resets and defaults. There is never anything under the administrative events when looking through Event Viewer. But I noticed under the System tab in Windows Logs, there has been a Service Control Manager event every single time it's happened. Even more interesting is I noticed it's ALWAYS this Precision driver in this event when the RGB and fan profiles crash.

As you can see this has also caused the Nvidia driver to crash and it took out my OC profile with it that time during a game. I really hope this information helps because this problem is still driving me nuts. I've already unplugged my fans from the extension header and put them on a manual fan controller. Which is what I was doing before this card and bought it SPECIFICALLY to use the extension fan header for my rear exhaust and bottom intake. This is such a ridiculous thing to have problems with. Please fix or at least acknowledge this is a problem, EVGA.

To be honest, I found that actually is from me reopening Precision after I notice the RGB and fans go wrong. So something seems to be happening to the Precision driver while it's running, causing it to stop running and seemingly uninstall itself. Only to be fixed by reopening Precision.

This whole thing has been such a headache. . .

    It's the latest.

Like, come on. I know better than that. All of the obvious stuff like clean driver installs, up to date BIOS, firmware and software.

Rolling back to any version of Precision compatible with the 30 series still does this now. Which leads me to believe the problem is in the firmware or how Precision communicates with it.

This happens to me since always (rtx 3080) and broke my fan profile to keep my card and externa fan working propertly

Which RGB profile settings are you using? I found that the Temperature mode was what cause mine to crash.

I willing to bet my 3080 that Temperature mode is the cause! Good luck mate.

Temperature mode and the RGB lights resetting is a known issue here with X1. Has been for some versions now.

Bump.  A year + ago when I built my PC, X1 controlled the LEDs of my EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super FTW3 Ultra controlled perfectly.  Now I can set static colors on. Static off.  Nothing else reliably works.  It runs in the rainbow mode upon booting the PC.  I am going to try to uninstall X1 and boot and see if it stays in rainbow mode but no way I am going to sacrifice all the other features for LEDs.

This seriously is ridiculous.  I am an Engineer and we would never get away with this lack of testing that most of these tech companies seem to employ.  I am currently having problems with Logitech, MSI and EVGA now.  All absolutely ridiculous software bugs.
Has the entire world gone to crap because of the pandemic?  Literally everything is getting worse quality, higher in price and customer service is absolutely non-existant when their programs have obvious glaring bugs.

My RGB lights always reset to rainbow every single time that I turn off the computer. I'm just accepting it by this point because I was lucky to recover from a bad MCU update thanks to the last version of X1.
