My boot-up time into Windows 10 is so slow. What can I do to optimize my bootup time? I also notice my keyboard and mouse wait to turn on after I'm in Windows. Odd!

I will add that from a cold start it takes 20 + seconds to go from screen lines stating press in F2 of Delete to enter BIOS. Then the normal boot / login screen comes up and all is great with windows 10 pro 64 bits. The is after a clean install .When I have time I am going to change BIOS switch. Some research says this could be some program failing in this quite time before booting continuers. I cannot find a way to check if any programs are trying to run before booting as no error reporting is available during this time..... Forgive and High Jacking that I may be doing. -- Ken

Define slow? An extra 10 seconds? A minute? Two? Installing the OS on an SSD is the best thing you can do for boot times. Next, the BIOS has options called "fast boot", which can speed up how fast the system hands off to the OS. One of the UEFI settings that affects boot times is USB initialization... this can be set to disable, partially enable, or fully enable USB devices while booting. When not initialized or only partially-initialized, once the UEFI hands off control to the OS the OS itself must fully initialize the USB which is why peripherals power off/on again briefly once the OS loads. If you find your motherboard manual you can likely find the setting options for USB devices detailed in there specific to your board.

Try CCleaner to clear your cache, make sure your boot drive have enough space(not in red state).

My pc updated to the new update ending in KBxxxx1330. 1330 introduced gaming performance drops and stutters. My pc booted slower like usually it's ready in 20 seconds. With the update It also stuttered and I was getting less fps with more frame drops. As soon as I uninstalled that update all was back to normal. With an ssd I just power my pc down everytime I walk away and don't intend to come back for awhile. Sleep sucks and messes things up for no good reason. An SSD makes sleep obsolete. I hear the 1330 update affects multi monitor systems more. Which mine is.

Without more info it's impossible to troubleshoot. Here are a few basic solutions: - Don't turn off your computer? I know it's basic, but probably the simplest solution short term if it's really bothering you. - Install your OS on a SSD if you haven't already. This was a game changer for me back in the day. - Check your BIOS settings. Look at boot priority. Are there other HDD's / SSD's or even other devices that are higher in the boot priority than the drive with your OS? - Run some antivirus software. You never know....

vanshion I'm always using sleep to avoid cold start.
That might be the problem. You need to completely restart you computer every so often. Flushes RAMYour computer's random access memory (RAM) is also known as volatile memory, because it's constantly in flux -- as opposed to solid-state memory, such as your hard drive. Your RAM handles lots of different short-term tasks and data, like running processes and holding program values. Rebooting your computer flushes out all this information, allowing your device to start anew and helping it run faster and more efficiently. Stops Memory LeaksMemory leaks occur when a program doesn't close properly. Every program that runs on your computer uses memory (usually RAM) while it's open. When you close the program, that memory should return to your computer. Outdated, overused or glitchy programs, however, can have memory leaks, which occur when memory isn't returned to the computer. Rebooting your computer each night can help prevent memory leaks from occurring. Fixes Small ErrorsMany computer users are unaware that when they reboot their computer, it runs diagnostics on itself, automatically fixing minor errors. These errors can range from buggy or glitchy applications to problems with the RAM. This is why you'll often find that when your computer freezes, or has a problem you don't know how to fix, simply restarting resolves the issue. Installs UpdatesEvery piece of software on your computer has the potential to receive updates, which can add new features to an application or fix issues that occurred with older versions. In fact, Microsoft releases new updates for its components on the second Tuesday of every month, known as "Patch Tuesday." Often times, you must restart your computer to download and install the necessary updates and patches that help it run quickly and smoothly.

It sounds like an issue with BIOS or a setting in the BIOS that is causing this long delay. Maybe you have some sort of hardware pre-check turned on that is causing this long delay. There aren't any other 'installed' programs that run before you 'boot'. The bootstrapper, which is pulled form the mobo/BIOS is literally the first 'program' that runs.

Try a restart. That is Windows button -> restart. (not turn off -> turn on, but an actual restart) It makes sure it's a 'fresh' restart. Also, remove any useless start up apps (windows -> search for "startup apps")

Best solution is always format the disk and do a clean install of Windows. This is true for many years. I know it may be painful but it always helps. Windows are getting slow during the time. You can also try to scan for malware. You can download Autoruns tool from Sysinternals suite and check if there is something suspicious starting during the Windows boot. Maybe you are mining without you knowing.

SSD for sure. Don't have anything set to open on startup that you don't need on start up.
