So I seem to be getting frequent crashes when playing CoD: Cold War on my 3090 XC3.  I've tried undervolting, lowering settings, turning off RTX features and it doesn't seem to work.  I know it is definitely this card as I have also tried swapping out to an Asus TUF 3090 that I had on hand from another build and that is able to run CoD: Cold War just fine with no crashes or stutters on the same graphics settings.

Is this a common issue with this card?  Has anyone experienced this and been able to fix it?  Did any combination of GPU bios updates or OC help?

My specs for reference:
Windows 10 Home
AMD 5950x
EVGA RTX 3090 XC3
Cooler Master 850w SFX PSU
B550i Aorus Pro AX
32GB Crucial Ballistix @ 3600MHz

Do you have the latest nvidia gforce drivers? I don't have any issues with my kingpin 3090 with graphics/Raytracing turned up max. I also don't overclock the gpu as I have noticed it can make games unstable.

you should test some other games & benchmarks  before calling it a bad card.... but swapping in a different one, as you did, is a pretty good indicator it is probably your 3090 XC3

Thanks, I have tried it on other games like Flight Simulator/BF5/etc and only CoD crashes.  I'm speculating it may be due to power draw.  I have read other XC3 cards have had power limiter issues, but I haven't read about the 3090 version having that.  Do you think updating the card's bios via Precision X1 would fix this or is it time for an RMA?

I personally try everything I can before bothering w/ RMA .... such a hassle & time waste waiting on replacements.

I can not load CODModernWarfare2019 or BlackOpsColdWar if my CPU is overclocked at all. Even setting XMP, the game absolutely refuses to load, and when it does load, most of the textures are completely messed up and look like marshmallows or they just don’t load at all.

I am on an Intel based system.

If you are overclocking your 5950x, could you try without an overclock on your cpu, just to see if the game reacts differently.

I am basically curious if the overclock is causing some error with the EVGA GPU that your ASUS card isn’t experiencing.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.  I have also tried turning off PBO on my CPU and have kept it at base clock.  I've also tried with XMP on and off.  I've actually done a clean driver install multiple times as well as reinstallation of game shaders AND the game itself to no avail.  I've even tried underclocking the card and it still crashes.  The only thing that seems to work is if I use another 3090 card.

What I haven't tried yet is updating the BIOS with precision X1, but would that void the warranty?

No, but you might brick your gpu in the process.

Are you using a riser cable? From what I read they can cause alot of issues

I have had to twice reinstall Cold War, and I'm always scared to update drivers. CO and Warzone are both sensitive. It seems to screw up if i go a long time w/o playing it. I also had issues running memory overclocks which was solved by running XMP profiles.Warzone would run fine with memory overclocked but not Cold War. I do not have a problem running overclocked memory right now.

Are you able to get to the main menu at all? It is crashing at different points in the game or just crashing upon executing?

Cold War crashed lots on my system. Ryzen 3900x. Found memory setting to be the reason. Gskill neo 3600 c18 kit. Issue when set to 3600, dropped to 3200. Zero crashes in Cold War. Very strange.

Try no cpu over clocking, ram at 3200.

    Add me cold war

I don't use a riser, the GPU is right on the motherboard.

The game crashes probably about 40 minutes into any game.  Sometimes sooner.  I'm usually able to get a few games in before it decides to crash.  The error it gives me is:

I had a friend with the same card who had these issues with resizable BAR, do you have that on?

I'll have to check, doesn't resizable bar have to be enabled?  I thought it was disabled by default and I haven't touched anything related to that so I'll have to look.

I found a reddit thread mentioning undervolting.  so I'm going to attempt undervolting it per the suggestion there to see if maybe that helps, I still feel it could be related to the power draw.

Really try setting memory to 2133 first. Motherboard bios.
My game crashed failure error every time.
Now ray tracing is on. Every eye candy item maxed.
    Zero crashes.
I did a fresh windows install with new and old drivers
Everything forums said to try did not work.
Gaming at 2133 to 3200 on memory is nothing.
Far better than crashing at 3600.
Cold War is fun. Hope you get it working.

I think I figured it out.  I undervolted the card from stock settings to 1815MHz @ .825...So far no crashing in Cold War after 2 straight hours of gameplay.  I think I got a dud.  At this setting I'm barely getting 110FPS at 1440p.

Don't get me wrong, it still works on other games at stock settings without crashing.  Cold War was the only game crashing.  It must have been pushing the card harder and demanding more voltage from it than it was capable.  I still feel like there's definitely something wrong with the voltage regulation on my card.  Does anyone know what the real power limit is before it starts throttling?  Even then I would imagine the card would just decrease the MHz instead of just plain crashing a game.
