Hey guys, noticed while playing some games that my HX850I from Corsair is pulling over 850 watts, I just ran SOTR benchmark, and Icue ( as **** as it is ) shows PSU maxing out at 868 Watts under load. So my question is, am I going to damage my GPU by running it on a psu that is constantly giving more power then its rated for ? I know its a good PSU, but I just worry.

Let me know

    What OC on your 9900K?
All cores at 5.1Ghz w 1.38 vcore "could" draw as much as 350w (under full load), I would suspect your PSU is perfectly fine.

I have always been an advocate of "purchase a decent PSU once"...thats it. It really doesn surprise me how many people will fork out big bucks on CPU, GPU and Mobo with full intentions of OC'ing, yet not look at the "efficiency curve" of a PSU....efficiency being your PSU being at 50% load.....

It is Oc'd to 5.1 with 1.261 on vcore, but honestly other then playing games, it does very little. I'm with you about grabbing a decent psu, and I mean the Corsair HX850 I , is , atleast imo a decent PSU, I just worry about the sudden spikes in poower my system seems to be pulling , at the end of the day my real question is, is it really enough if Icue is showing spikes up to 870+ watts *( not sustained, just peek) on an 850 watt platinum PSU?

    Good info here

I have an AX1600i only as it was used in a 1080Ti SLi full WC Loop with 17 fans 200W Fan Controller etc etc. Also I got a very good deal when I bought it....likely will outlast me ;)
My System is somewhere around the 875W - 950W (depending upon how much I push the CPU n GPU), so the AX1600i is very silent / cool and operating in that 60% load efficiency sweet spot.

Do you think a thermaltake 750gold would be enough to power a 3080ftw?
Whats the 3080ti going to need?
or should i just get a 1kw psu and get it over with?
