None of the new 11th Gen Intel stuff ... they are being ripped to shreds in most reviews/ benchmarks
Get the best 10th Gen Intel you feel like paying for.

    Ryzen 😳 get Ryzen😳 😁

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

See the thing people often forget about ryzen is it comes with huge overhead now. You need to buy a very good ram kit to get the most out of it. Intel you can slap almost any kit in there without issue.

    -ASUS PG259QN, XG248Q
    -Lian Li 011 Dynamic
    -MSI Z490 Meg Ace

Find a deal on a 10900K and slide that in. The 11X00 series is a disaster. Good on the low to mid-range but the upper end offers nothing.

He can't do that. His 9900X is a LGA 2066 CPU, 10900K is LGA 1200.

    @ OP
As for which CPU, that depends on what you want to do. If you are not considering replacing your motherboard, you're limited to LGA 2066 CPUs of which the latest available for your platform are the Cascade Lake CPUs. If you just need more cores for a specific workload your easiest option is to get a 18 core 10980XE as a drop in replacement. If you are considering replacing your motherboard I would advise you to just wait till the end of the year as both Intel and AMD will have new platforms on offer. Both AMD and Intel's current range of mainstream  motherboards are a dead end as far as future support goes. If you haven't bought a board by now, there is little reason to now as you will be upgrading to a dead end platform no matter which one you choose.

What?  No, you need a 3600mhz kit with Ryzen, which is basically the most common ram speed available.

^This is almost exactly what I was going to write.

Regarding some of the other comments: There are actually good 11-series reviews out there, depending on what you're looking for in the CPU. If you want gaming performance and don't care about running prime95 as the primary use of your computer...the 11900k is actually quite good. Many reviewers locked it at 125W (which is a stupid thing to do with this CPU) and it doesn't really do that well. If you're planning on running water, or a good AIO, you can unlock that power state and actually turn on the ABT feature that Intel even tells you to use. Then you've got yourself about the best gaming CPU you can buy and that's before you even talk about giving it a nice per-core OC. Yes, it will draw more power than a 5900X, which at high resolutions will game similarly (if you can find one), but it won't be much hotter (if at all) due to the larger die area (more surface area to conduct heat away). most of the reviewers just went "look at the big scary prime95 numbers!" then locked it down and tested it in gimped-mode...of course it wasn't great. It's the last hurrah (of desperation) of Intel's 14nm process. Is it perfect? nope lol, but it is actually quite good when used correctly. OK...off my soap box.

I have heard rumors of a new HEDT line coming either at the end of the year or sometime next year. If you can wait and want to stay in the HEDT line, just wait a while. If you can't wait and need more threads, I would suggest you either move to 5950X (again, if you can find one), or 10980xe to stay on your motherboard. As with most rumors, I can't back these up. I wonder a little bit if it is just wishful thinking. I am currently still on 5820k (my 11900k and all parts but the motherboard that launches later this week are sitting there waiting to be installed) and had for a while hoped that there would be a new x-series motherboard lineup with at least quad-channel memory and an affordable CPU to drop in, maybe 10-12 cores, $600? That was the dream, but I didn't see it happening this year...so I said "hold my beer" and started buying a rocket lake setup as gaming is my primary use of the computer and I don't really need the HEDT line to do that.

6Q6CPFHPBPCU691 is a discount code anyone can use.

Really hard to say if you don't give us any background on what you intend to use it for, gaming? 3D work? Other media?
