Would the Intel Core i7-8700 Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.2 GHz work with X299 Dark..?

I was going to buy an AMD board but would really like the X299 Dark....I am confused about all the Intel chips available. Would the  Intel Core i7-8700 Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.2 GHz work with this board..?
Lastly, What is the cheapest 44 lane intel processor that would be compatible...?   Thank you for reading.

    No, it's a socket 1151 chip and not a socket 2066 chip.

    You would want to use one of the chips on our certified list here for the motherboard. A good place to do comparisons between the CPUs is here.

    If you already own the i7 8700, then you'll need to buy a Z370 or Z390 series chipset motherboard for use with it:
