Yeah discord turned them down, and is going to IPO instead.

Discord Turned them down - so where exactly is the bloatware coming from

I wonder if this is gonna end up like when google failed to buy whatsapp and facebook bought them for 22bil. Google spent the next few years creating 7 or so competing services that all failed.
Cash, meet firepit.

How does Discord survive and make money anyway? Especially if it was able to turn down Microsoft's offer?

Selling data, nitro, boosts and probably just huge investments because they "own" the market atm basically.

MS would of made Discord exclusive in some way or other. Glad they turned them down.

Honestly I'm glad the deal fell through. I've used Lync and Teams and Skype. None of them come close to comparing to Discord, but Skype was decent once upon a time.

Bluuhaku
This deals been called off, for better or worse. I definitely prefer discord to any other online meeting software regardless.

Their software kills my framerate in a lot of games, and causes random crashes of a lot of games for me.  But if I load it through a browser I have no problems.
